I'd actually go ahead and play Metal Gear for MSX now. MGSV is in a way, a prequel to this game. It's also the worst of the series and only takes a couple hours to beat, so you'll get that ouf of the way.

Metal Gear, Metal Gear 2, Snake's Revenge, Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 2, Metal Gear Solid 3, Metal Gear Ac!d, Metal Gear Ac!d 2, Metal Gear Solid; Portable Ops & finally Metal Gear; Peace Walker can all be played on your PC provided it is powerful enough and you know your way around emulation. I might point out that both Metal Gear Solid 1 & 2 are both available as PC ports.

I included it because I know you can play it on PC, not because of it's quality.
Really the only ones that might be tricky is 3 & peace walker, but tbqh if you can run it on a fucking 3DS you should be able to run it on a computer. I tried running Peace Walker a while ago through an emulator but my system couldn't hack it.
Have Konami said anything about the future of MGS yet?
