I think everyone makes that mistake during the first playthrough when going in blind; which is fine, because learning that they'll always buy and be happy at 106% really kills the magic of the game. It's like learning how a really great magic trick is done, and it's some really easy and disappointing secret. The game stops being a haggling simulator at that point and just turns into one really long trade quest.

Well they're not totally pointless. I mean you do learn stuff doing them, especially the ones that unlock in endless mode tell youThat the debt was really honestly just bullshit and that it was just so Tear could investigate dungeons under orders from the big bad.
Personally I always make it my goal to beat every dungeon before the end of the debt. If you can unlock every adventurer, repay the debt and beat all the dungeons without restarting then you're pretty good at Recettear.

The problem isn't in the size of the debt, it's in the exponential growth in profits from increasing merchant and customer levels. Though really, I don't think there's much of a problem. The game is tuned pretty well so that you'll be struggling on your first playthrough, but perfectly able to beat it, even without knowing how customer levels work.

One thing always bugged me about that. Now o always assumed that currencies in Japanese games were modelled similarly to, if not after, the yen. The price of walnut bread being 100pix seems to support this. That would basically put it at around $2 for walnut bread.
Tear seems to wanna sell Recette for 200pix a session. Now while I admit that does make for a raunchy rapefest, it isn't efficient. Surely we could bump it up to at least 1000pix or similar. It keeps the price degradingly low, Recette still has to take a substantial amount of dick, and Tear could stand to make a tidier profit. Especially considering you need to hit those debt milestones at weekly intervals
