>>

All cards are the same except for tacked on gimmicks that don't work properly.

People should only buy based on their budget.

Plain and simple, he feel for the /v/ meme,

>muh muh 8 gigs that can't be used
>970 has C U C K E D memory even though it's much stronger

HBAO+ isn't a Nvidia-only thing even though they say it is. I've used it in FC4, Witcher 3 and such.

PhysX is shit anyways.
>>
>>334787630
if its the sapphire r9 390 you should be good after installing the drivers, i have one and its running smoothly and i've had no issues whatsoever family.
>>
>>334787630
I honestly cannot tell you what you'll miss out on, since the last two cards I've had were AMD cards. Previous card lasted me about 6 years. Currently using a reference R9 290X. Haven't had any issues with it yet.

I was actually going to buy this card too
>>

some games use almost all of the 390s vram
like black ops 3
in general they stay around 4GB in current games though

>>334787630
beta drivers are pretty safe to use
you should be able to OC to 1100 core safely
amd gaming evolved has a game recorder like shadow play but is a bit harder on performance loss
if your monitor is 60Hz 1080p you probably wont notice though
r9 390 is a gcn 1.1 card meaning it can only use virtual resolution up to 3200x1800
only gcn 1.2 cards can do 4k virtual res (285, 380/x, fury cards)

>>
>>334787679
Why do you need to update your drivers so often.

The optimization is minimal and apart from a few exceptions won't give you any significant gains. Driver updates are usually a sign of problems in the original software.

I haven't updated most of mine since 2012, and everything works great.
>>
>>334788514
if you think your power supply can handle amd cpu and gpu it might be the cheapest option
ive seen my 390 draw about 330~ watts and thats with +100mv +50% power limit with 1140/1650 OC running dark souls 3 at 3200x1800

>>
>>334788884
Nvidiots tend to think more driver updates means better.

Funny how the last 4 nvidia drivers were all broken...
>>
>>334788697
Not power consumption and heat though.

Whatever money you've saved from bying AMD over NVIDIA you're going to pay for electrical bills over the next several months. And heat - no need to tell you, but when sensitive lectronics are concerned, you need to minimize heat as much as possible. Excessive heat, which is a pretty constant trait of AMD GPU's compared to their NVIDIA counterparts, is something that will SURELY limit the life expectancy of your hardware.

>He fell for the AMD meme

>>334788991
It's weird, I always see
>no driver updates
spouted as universally bad without any explanation, as if it was obvious.

I usually give it a year, and that's playing it safe really, after 6 months of release all problems will have been ironed out and the drivers are most likely stable and unlikely to get any better.

>>

Very. Games barely use up 4GB, the only way you will get to 8GB VRAM is heavy Skyrim/Oblivion/Fallout modding
>>
>>334789273

There is no such thing as future proofing in regards to gpus. The 390 in particular can't make effective use of all 8gb but it's nice to have.
>>
>>334789203
No, no I don't. I've no persona experience, but there's no doubt that AMD consumes more power than a comparable NV graphics chip.

>>334789427
Should I get 4GB VRAM GPU instead, or if I can afford it, get the 390x?
>>
>>334789273
Just depends on how games evolve. Mostly it leaves open the possibility of 1440p if you want it later, maybe 4k if you Crossfire in the future, and prevents VRAM quantity from becoming a bottleneck in your system, although of course the GPU's raw performance will eventually become insufficient, given enough time.

There aren't really any 4gb GPUs in their price range that beat them out.

less size means less power draw, means less heat, means higher clock, it also means more shit on the same sized die.

Xbox has almost 0 impact on FPS and nets you a pretty good quality if you set it to high, but it's locked to 30FPS and you can use it for streaming.
Other programs have some disadvantages and limited functionality. But there are 3rd party substituted for shadowplay.

But there are some things in GeForce experience you can't replace, like online multiplayer for local only games, it also has some really nice options for injecting stuff in games, which AMD driver, sadly, currently lacks

Absolute madman.

You should never listen to /v/, ever.

but it's called GAMING. that makes it the best for, you know, gaming.

plus it's black and red, you ust look at it and feel that power.
>>
The only problems I've had with my Sapphire 390 Nitro is some easily solved micro-stutter in a few games.

For example in The Witcher 3 it stutters in fullscreen, so I had to play borderless windowed with vsync and frame limits off, using the Windows Aero vsync.
In Vermintide it stutters in borderless windowed, so I have to play in fullscreen in vsync on.

I suspect if I had a newer monitor with freesync the issue might go away, but either way it's easily solved after tinkering with game settings for a couple minutes.

The actual performance of the card is great as long as you're not trying to do 4K.

Why are AMD ruining everything in gaming by adopting ""standards"" under the ironic name of calling them all ""open""

Nvidia are actually serving the game industry by having ACTUAL standards, used by ACTUAL developers and having ACTUAL support.

Save gaming, buy fucking Nvidia you AMD cucks, nobody cares how many comp-poo-tations you can do, none of that is relevant to gaming.

You assume I would be the same in any other era. You see, back then humans actually had to work hard or they died. Along with it humans were installed things that make a true human. Honor and pride.

But in this modern society. There is no honor and pride. There is only mediocrity. Tolerance, Coward. A society that cares more about dumb shit like Justin Biever's haircut or the latest ipad/phone and their greatest worry is being unfriended on kikebook.

I support the police by the way. So fuck BLM.

i have an Asus 290. (not the X version)

The cooler has 4 heatpipes and only two of them touch the GPU because they put nVidia coolers which are designed for larger chips on AMD cards to save money.

Jew move Asus

it still works overclocked but you have to make sure you have good airflow on your case.
