You know they could have made some really cool games around the timeline during or before the covenant war where you could maybe play someone else than the chief ( like in Reach and ODST).
I mean how about we get a game where we play a squad of marines in the style of an ego shooter/ squad tactics game after the events of Halo 1 and we have to defend a colony from the covenant and you have to prepare your squad to keep the covenant at bay before they decide to glass the planet.
Like specialising your squaddys for specific roles and give em commands and different weapon loadouts for a mission ( which can be switched during the mission by looting supply caches or dead soldiers/ aliens), maybe also some ordanance in the way of artillery strikes, vehicle drops or air bombardements which can be earned via succesfully completing an objective ( bonus points for doing it in style or acing it maybe too).
But there would also be the thing that all of your soldiers can die and you need to replace them with rookies ( just like in X-Com).
And yet do we only get master chief does the impossible and saves day yet again and is still sad about his holographic waifu.

Found the mistake friendo. You cant revive the series without bringing back the face of the whole saga. I would've definitely enjoyed playing 4 had it not for the the shitty plot around chief. I don't see why they didn't take advantage of him being the "legend" who saved earth, barely talked about until the end of 4 where they can pull a "we found him" twist or some shit. You couldve play a fresh face fighting off the remaining Covenant/insurgents around the globe. Honestly thats more believable then him being "the one" cause some spiritual librarian said so.
