>>334766331
Q4 and a TE2+.
>>
>>334766331
nah, been meaning to pick one up for ages now though
using a PS1 pad for now
>>
>>334766331
yes, the q4
>>
>>334766331
No because I play Tekken and the buttons flow perfectly with a controller.

Street fighter was never good it was just easier for fags to get into because it lacked any depth.
>>
My friend has been hyped about SFV since it first got announced
He got it day 1 with a $200 fightstick
3 weeks go by and I ask him if to let me try
He hand me a DS4. We run a set of 5 and I win 3-1
He no longer plays SFV when I come over
>>
No and watch, it's gonna quickly turn into some faggot saying some shit about /v/ being bad at fighting games.
Then someones gonna link to the video about the saltyness in the FGC, then someones gonna mention LTG, and somehow they're gonna relate this to smash and bash it.

Also, don't forget the fucker that talks about how fighting games are "archaic" because of the inputs.

i fucking hate this place
>>
>>334766615
yeah bro LOL! fighting sticks are for babies!

Rock on broseph and keep on kicking some ass!

Overpriced trash

Maybe the Shadaloo TE+ it's $200 and hella good

Owning a fight stick is living proof that you are a millennial that has lost the capability to adapt with the times, are are clinging onto a dead medium for hopeless nostalgic purposes.

No, too poor.
There's a reason I only play anime fighters

I won a horii SCV stick. Tried it, can't for the life of me fathom how people can even manage to make their character walk 2 steps without jumping/crouching.

Same with "fightpads". The stick button layout never worked for me, much prefer the shoulder button macros. Not to mention the meat of these pads, the d-pad is almost always shitty. PSX/2/3 pads are really the only ones that enable full functionality for me.
>>

SCV Madcatz. Looking to upgrade to a Hayabusa Hori (but if I don't like the buttons I have a spare set of Sanwas at least. Last time I tried I liked the Lever but the old Kuro buttons were mad ass).

So far from what I've looked up the Hayabusa buttons are way better than the old Kuros.

Also, tfw Korean parts are expensive as fuck. Really would like that sweet Fanta lever after having played one (SC2. Busted B button aside shit felt good) on our local arcade.
>>
>>334769647
its all got its merits, its good fun experimenting with input schemes

I tried every grip anon. Its just not working out for me. A whole month and still couldn't handle basic movement. And by that I mean in times where it mattered like being pressured, trying to pressure, on wakeups etc. Anyone can calmly move his character when there's no pressure involved but that's not what I want.

Opened it up, tore out all the hori shit, installed semistu stick and buttons and put in a new pcb for sum total £45. Thats an easy way.
There are cheaper cases and cheaper pcb's out there especially if you can get creative, it isnt hard at all.

>>334770089
It was hard for me too anon.
Took a couple months until it became like an extension of my arm.
Now i can't use anything esle, i feel severely gimped using controller though its definitely not impossible most times i'll refuse 6 or 8 button fighters on them.

it takes time for some of us. I dont know why but thats the breaks.

You'll get it eventually, for me it took entirely retraining my mind. New character, new fighting game and entirely new input scheme.

I'm a super clumsy oaf irl so that doesnt help lmao
>>
>>334770089

Man, that's rough. I have probably the same SCV stick you do but I've adapted to it just fine. Then again I used to play a lot in the arcades so it comes with that.

Maybe it's more of say, your mindset I guess? Also if that ain't working out for you you always have pad anyway.

>>334768291

I heard you can do crafty padhacks with this. Considering that from where I live, stuff like the Brook Board are mad expensive I'd probably want to look into that one I guess. That and an old 360 pad if I can figure out how.

Its cool. I used to get really annoyed because people would always get on my case for not being "fightstick masturace". Until I managed to come this far in execution with a pad. Webm related.

Charge inputs are ok too I guess, just much more painfull for the finger that's gotta hold the charge. Guess that's the only advantage sticks still have from how I see it, maybe plinking too but I got past that hurdle with pure execution. Still managed to have a pretty lame DeeJay sub and now I can main Alex in SFV.

At this point I agree with >>334771815. Go with whatever doesn't hurt your hands.

Right now I've had to put up with a DS4 for PC KI (via input wrapper) because Stick Support is kinda fucked for that game outside of Joytokey or Xpadder. It's all right. Can't consistently do light autos/manuals because the timing is a bit too fast for me at this point but I'll adapt eventually.

>>334771862

I use a Joystick for local Castlevania: Harmony of Despair. Not quite good enough to the point of doing the trick jumps outside of the Jonathan sonic strike jumps, but at least ok enough for shit like jump kick movement and spamming Omnia Vanitas.

Are you sure they're pad fags. It's most likely either false-flagging or b8 m8.

I mean the other pad dudes here earlier were nice enough I guess.

I never felt right playing any fighting game without a stick save for older guilty gear. I was too poor as a kiddo to have a good one up until ac so I used what i had.
>>
No.
I own 5 fight sticks

What stick should I get for SFV?
>>
>>334780112

Something with Xinput support to make things easy. I hear the Hori PS4 sticks work fine out of the box but I'm not sure

Anything else you may get you'll have to find workarounds like say, x360ce.

Any good site to order them online or just to get the good parts without paying tons of tax imports?

Would you guys say learning to use stick is a necessity?
I'm really interested in getting one, but I'm strapped for cash at the moment. That, and I haven't been doing too bad with pad.
>>
>>334780836

It's been mentioned above but go with what you're comfortable with.

Sticks are not quite a necessity but they do help with more precise movement. That and guys who used to play in the arcades feel a bit more right at home I guess. Or at least, that's how I feel about it.
>>
I don't play fighting games but I'm a huge shmup/arcade game fanatic

Was thinking about picking up a fightstick. Should I? Any decent options?
>>
>>334780752
Why would you pay top cash just for a box and buttons when you can make one with the same buttons and shit for 1/4 of that money?
>>
>>334781046

You say that as if adding a stick would be any more work/effort. With that mentality there's no reason anyone shouldn't just build their own stick period

I would but I can't find a stick on the right side, and I don't play many fighting games, I think i'd mainly use it to play SNES and NES and maybe N64 games.

I brought mine last year. Someone told me it was shit, but I have almost no problems with it so far.

There is a reason. To get a licensed PCB. You can't get a licensed PCB with a hitbox. Buying one is retarded.
>>
>>334766331

My SC5 madcats stick is on its way... Shoudlve been here yesterday actually

Cant wait to finally try to get gud in fighters/shmups, always wanted the arcade experience at home

*bought

Also is there a better way to deal with the pain you get in your left side of your left hand after playing for about an hour or two.
>>
>>334781564

Either wrist exercises or breaks. Or change your grip to something you're more comfy with maybe?
>>
>>334781564
Change your grip. There are quite a few different grips and most people change them on the fly while playing.
>>
How am I supposed to hold the stick
>>
>>334781813
Grips vary wildly. Just pick one that's comfortable.
>>
>>334771246
its a switchboard for turbo buttons, if that's what you're asking about

So you can set each one to turbo but i've had it rewired as just additional unnamed inputs for whatever. I could map one to be a button held down if I wanted but it's not come in useful in fighting games at all
>>
>>334781813
index and middle finger on one side, thumb on the other almost cupping the ball the other two fingers are wherever they feel like being at the time
i dash by patting the stick with my palm or the outer side of my hand for the other direction
its worked so far
