Which games have the most lifeless and boring open worlds?

I can't decide if New Vegas has an empty feeling open world on purpose or not.

Elite Dangerous

>Bridge over charles river concept art
>large whaling boat with some cool shit to explore
>Bridge over charles river in game
>a fucking cargo boat the size of a slightly larger sailboat with the only worthwhile loot is the magazine that gives you more health from food

>Deep Space
What were you expecting?

Even among games set in space ED manages to make it especially lifeless.

All of them.
Technology isn't there yet for 3D open worlds even though Bethesda has gotten close before, and the average publisher/dev isn't willing to put in the time necessary to populate an open world properly anyway.

The king of pointless, open-world boredom.

>they really should have waited another year and fully finished this piece of SHIT
>>334765619
In recent years the draw of a game being open world has been pretty much non-existant, so no open world has felt very fulfilling. I much prefer a well designed linear story now.
Gravity Rush. It just looks so bland and uninteresting. There's also barely shit in there. Like a couple of chellenge markers, gems and that's pretty much it. It also doesn't help that everything in the distance fades into just one colour. I'm glad GR2 already looks more colorful and isn't limited by the vita hardware this time around.

It's not a whaling ship. It's a warship. You can see another one just above.

>can't see the huge tower of the city center in the farm image
10/10 concept art
>>334765619
>Far Cry franchise
>Shadow of Mordor
>AssCreed franchise
>Bethesda games
Essentially any open world that isn't governed by any meaningful, underlying systems feels fake and becomes boring to explore a couple of hours in. Most modern open world games shouldn't have been open world, at all.

Was gonna say Rage but you got it technically.
Fallout 4 every building was the same.
>>334769654
even the fucking sub, only place looked interesting was the minutemen fort.
>>334766895
>no random guerilla attacks on camps
>few patrolling trucks every once in a while
>barely any impact on the overworld once they return after a day or something
>filled with empty nothing unless it's a side op which is more pointless missions
I have no idea what Kojima was thinking when he thought open world was a great idea for MGS. It completely erases what made MGS great in the first place.
