DaS3 is literally all the souls game into one , is the last game in the Soul series so of course from wanted to integrate all of the games somehow , the keeper is a mix of all the other girls.

Dark Souls did it better and faster, on the npcs themselves they felt really bad in DaS2 because they all just go to Majula to sell you shit while in Dark Souls they tend to have story arcs and travel more, haven't finished 3 yet so I can't really comment yet but having some Jap faggot make his waifu mandatory for leveling and other little things is one of the most obnoxious things I can think of, how many thousands of collective hours have been wasted by players for no damn reason, hearing the same dialogue hundreds of times?
