In the second game. First game is the definition of clunk the whole way through. Second is slightly smoother, but still a little hard to get used to.
This is a series that's hard to go back to with modern standards.
You go to get to the part where you can just wander around the island.
And remember, save all your money for the shining laser.

The PS1 version is the original, not a port. The only thing the N64 version has is slightly better textures and shittier audio. A pretty massive downgrade overall
