Doom multiplayer was a novelty that everyone stopped paying attention to the second Quake did it better. Doom has and always will be about gunning down bucket after bucket of monsters. Go ahead and call me stupid or a fucking shill, but I still think this game's getting a heavier negativity than it needs. It's flawed and very average but not fucking awful.
Biggest flaws with the game so far are DLC-exclusive demons down the line, Hacks being consumable DLC bait, Rocket League-esque gaudy bright colours and designs on all the armor, the IN YOUR FACE taunts, yadda yadda I posted this before verbatim.
I think the game's hit a decent middle ground with load-outs, though. Players spawn with what they want, but actually playing smart and memorizing spawn points still gives you advantages, like the cannon weapon in the hell stage spawning in front of that awful "sniper's perch". Hunting for health feels great in a modern FPS.

Shadow Warrior was ok, the sequel looks to improve on it, Hard Reset was a nice first attempt/proof of concept that won't be remembered, and Rise Of The Triad was kinda shit.
Serious Sam BFE ended up being pretty good as far as classic FPS went, it just starts as a 'modern' FPS before evolving into a classic horde shooter as you play through.
If you judge a whole game by a multiplayer component designed and produced by a separate team you are the cancer.

It has everything to do with the fact they are Halo MP makers making a Doom game's multiplayer, and surprise surprise, Doom 4's MP has Halo mechanics crudely mashed into what was once an Arena shooter.
The abomination it spawned has pleased exactly 7 people. It's too fast and hardcore for casuals, and far far far too slow and lacking in arena mechanics for arena players.
