What do you think of Little Big Adventure 1 & 2? Also known as Relentless & Twinsen's Odyssey

I remember playing these and loving them as a kid, but I haven't gone back to try them again. Do they still hold up?

LBA2 I would say yes, despite the dated tank controls, it's still a very charming journey.

Sometimes I remember games from my childhood, and it feels like an otherwordly dream, that I made them up.
LBA was one of them, someone post the rainy map.

I should probably make more webbums, but I'm not sure what to show

Yeah thats the map. Was a very otherwordly game for me as a Kid. Now it looks pretty ugly

Still, it's a very charming game. Really sucks how no games similar to it are being made today.
Beyond Good & Evil came close, but then it also got stuck in limbo.
I tried to play LBA 1 recently because I got it off GOG, but its game mechanics are way too wonky to play.
Get caught? Have fun redoing the past half hour after being thrown in jail, and then again once you're inevitably defeated.
Couldn't get past the first island - bunch of weird archaic items I had to find...

Yeah, LBA1 is archaic, the second game is way more playable today.
Even though they made a new version of the first game for mobiles, and that version is on steam I think, they fixed the getting hurt if you run into surfaces, Im not sure if they changed that getting caught part.

this is a nice description of it. i played LBA on a ps1 demo and i had no idea what i was doing or wtf i was playing, it instantly stuck in my mind for one reason or another though. probably a similar experience to someone playing oddworld, or kula world, or any of the strange games of ps1 era
might go back and play them both
>>334732532
yeah, there's this element of wonder in exploring the world and those crazy races the games had
