This port really isn't that bad, or at least shows massive improvements over DS1 and 2. Anecdotal evidence but I'm running a 3 year old non-nvidia gpu. 1440p max gets me 45-60fps. There is no stuttering or freezes at all (installed on SSD might be why), only 1 CTD over 40 hours of game time.

Can't say for Dark Souls 3, but here's proof of gimping in Kepler cards, on Fallout 4. It's the difference in frames, %-wise, from the first game release to the 1.3 patch. All Nvidia cards got hit, but Kepler cards got hit MUCH harder.
This could be attributed to some changes the dev made to the game, but it should have never hit it that hard. Some cards lost almost half their FPS.
It's just getting really hard to deny that Nvidia is doing something to their older cards. It's getting to the point where it's beyond ridiculous.

You can't write drivers for closed source shit like GPUs. You don't know how it works on a physical level, and you don't know how it communicates to the CPU. It would take a lot of reversing, and years of studying a particular architecture to be able to produce anything that even remotely works.

Not sure if you're responding to the right person, but I love DaS3. It's everything I wanted 2 to be so far.
60fps on max with an R7 360. Latest update eliminated FPS drops and stutter when saving. Granted my monitor is 1366x768 only but it still looks pretty good applying SweetFX antialias and a bit of sharpen.

I don't like DS2 for a huge variety of reasons. ADP is a bad idea, soul memory is an awful idea, removing spawns if you fail too much is probably as opposite as the philosphy of Dark Souls as it gets.
The level design is bad, difficulty for the sake of difficulty (launch version shrine of amana...) instead of just rewarding careful players, bad exploration, boring bosses (hi armored dude #45), uninteresting rings etc etc.
It's a better port than both DS1 and DS3 but it's not a very good game.

I've seen a few people shit on the game for having too many DaS1 references, but I feel like it should get away with that since it's a true sequel to DaS1'a story/lore, and not an alternate universe like demon's souls or bloodborne. Siegewardwas a bit much, but the place you find aldritch was a good/fitting idea.

I also own a 560ti, 350.12 driver and it runs ok depending on the area, on bigger areas I get some slowdown, nothing too bad, game is totally playable.
