What's /v/'s opinion on Steam reviews?
>>
Useless.
>>
Reddit comments hosted for you by Steam
>>
>>334695067
Piece of shit most of the time. I hate those "joke" reviews. Having the "funny" button or whatever it is barely helps; people will still click "yes" for the "Was this review helpful" question.
>>
>>334695067
Fucking cringey copy and paste
>>
>>334695067

My experience with them has been fully positive.
Sure you have to sift through the trash - but you get used to that after being on /v/ for so long.
>>
>>334695362
That button is cancer. You can't even get to the actual reviews because the memers get their upboats. It's just a flawed system entirely. Wish it were scrapped.
>>
The binary system for something like this is inherently biased. I feel that either a ternary or even unary option would have been better.
>>
Individually they are cringey and worthless as fuck

That being said, "Overwhelming positive" games are usually pretty okay

And "Overwhelmingly negative" games are usualyl pretty bad
>>
all positives reviews:

>did something dumb
>best game ever
>10/10

all negative reviews:

>something dumb happened
>would not X
>0/10 or Y/10
>>
Helpful for games that aren't very popular.

Steam has reviews?
>>
>>334695067
Some of the funniest things I've read were Steam reviews.
>>
>>334695548
So far all the Steam reviews I've encountered were like this:
>Overwhelming positive games have shitty stupid joke reviews
>Overwhelming negative games have formal reviews inspecting the flaws of game and why it is not a recommended product to purchase
>>
Somewhat helpful, when the consensus on a game is negative it definitely has big issues and you should avoid it or inform yourself more before buying it. Some users also take the time to write long reviews that are more informative than anything that comes from "professional" reviewers" but you have to dig through dozens of useless shit to get to them. I really wish people would stop mistaking the useful button for an upvote but I guess the thumbs up doesn't help.

About as useful as youtube or reddit comments.
The only halfway decent way of using them is looking over the negative reviews. At least that way you might get the semblance of actual criticism and now just fanboy cheerleading and memes.

It's one of the best customer review systems simply because it requires the reviewer to actually own the game and shows how much they have played.
You just have to swim through a whole bunch of shit and memes to get to the good stuff.

Every steam review
>>
>>334700057
That's even worse because you don't even have to own the fucking games to review them there.
>>
>>334700056
Probably because you were never actually forced to use it for a prolonged period of time.
I have no idea how it works, but Steam pretty much forces you to log in after 1-2 days of offline mode.

Sometimes I've found Steam reviews useful or interesting. Not often, but still.

The joke ones that appear at the top by default just get tiresome, and it's a letdown that the most honest reviews that aren't driven by fanboyism are mainly the negative reviews, or some wordly drivel that's a pain in the ass to read because of how narrow the text wrapping is in the review columns.

You also have to find out for yourself on whether any point in a negative review gets remedied by the devs in a later patch or not, like serious connection issues or something. It's kind of a given if something was early access.

There also isn't a lot of short reviews either. There's like one guy on my friends list who kept it simple with a grade and recommend price to buy the game at, and that's it.
>>
>>334699736
Are all these satirical?
>>
>>334700169

It's very clear who owns them tho due to quality of review. Steam is absent of quality these days.

Steam users have the same problem as certain forum dwellers in that they think "more words = more smarts"
>>
>>334700248
No, the bear story is legit.
>>
>>334695067
why isn't there a "you have to play this game for 5-10 hours" or even better "you have to complete the game first" restrictions on being able to post fucking reviews?

that is the ONLY WAY to cull this shit of dumb/shit/funny reviews

>>334700321

>>

bigger cuck that I thought, don't you know how many ISIS are mixed in those oh so poor refugees? and how much they could recruit more from them?

and most of them are only economic migrants, not actual refugees anyway

>If you think that bombing the shit out of their countries and supporting the dictators they tried to overthrow will not make them cling onto what they consider traditional values, you're retarded

Yeah that still explains the blasphemy laws, apostasy laws and more backwards retardation
>>
>>334703815
>don't you know how many ISIS are mixed in those oh so poor refugees?
I actually don't, care to provide some sources? Because from what I've seen, all the terrorists in Europe are european-raised and the refugees are actually running away from ISIS, Assaad and other dictators/terrorists/conflicts amongst them

>and most of them are only economic migrants, not actual refugees anyway
And? Does that change anything?

>>334703815
The problem is that nobody bothered both to accomodate them AND give them a better alternative to their backwards "traditional values", it's always one or the other:
either Europe with disguise persecuton of Muslims as "cultural enrichment", forcing them to cling onto Islam or they will allow muslims only to organize into what are essentially ghettos.

Nobody actually bothered integrating those 2nd-generation muslims into french of belgian society, that's why they turned to ISIS.
