I don't understand why they don't do longer videos for a series like Dark Souls 3. Wouldn't they want to not drag out a single series for half a year? Long after people stop caring about it? They literally accomplished nothing and saw nothing new today.
If you're looking at Grumps as pure performance art: JonTron has a lovely personality, and just hearing him speak is great even if he's not pushing his jokes super hard. But Danny's comedy is genuinely inventive, and through this Arin becomes a better comedian as well.

The only issue with modern grumps is that they honestly care too much about being quick
Danny never gets to play anything despite the games he got to play on the show being some of their best series (namely Shadow of the Colossus) because the assumption is that Arin knows the games better, and Arin is insistent on doing things the fastest way possible, which often ends up being something that doesn't work.
The shows underlying tone would improve considerably if they were a bit more free form. I suppose part of it is to keep progressing within the length of an episode but even then. The appeal is that it's two bros playing games and chatting shit, progression honestly isn't that important.
I honestly think that's the only issue. Anything else like "hurr danny only talks about sex" is just the kind of people they are and if you don't like that you should probably not watch it anyway, considering they themselves openly say that their humour is straight up fucking stupid.
I love it when Arin becomes crazy frustrated and starts acting like a total retard. But then every time Danny has to tell him to stop and switch game/map.
