I was about to transition towards GS, and had chosen the one you get when exchanging the giant skeleton in the dark's soul because of low dex and str requirement. But apparently GS are shit.
So now i'm thinking about using the spear that scails with faith. Sorry can't remember names.
What other weapons would you recommend for someone who's been wielding the same axe for 26+ hours? Remember I use mostly pyros, have 14 in str and 14 in dex.
Plan was dex quality no magic.
It may yet end up being dex quality + Miracles because I don't know. It depends on what the meta ends up being, I guess?

Just how important are armor in this game?
I looked around and the difference between certain sets aren't that big except for magic/elemental and physical resistance.
Also why did they remove upgrading armor?
I went in planning to pump str and dex so I could use every non magical weapon, and vitality or whatever the equip load stat is so I could keep a bunch of different kinds of weapons at the ready with decent looking armour. That's basically exactly what I ended up doing. I also planned to use the farron greatsword, and am, along with other weapons, but I'm also doing a lot of invading and not finding it exceptional in that regard, and I want the three weapons I keep handy to be slash, strike, and thrust, so this is my slashing weapon, I guess. Might just find something else to equip when it's time for PvP and go back to spinning like an asshole for PvE primarily.

Started as a sword and board knight but realized that most things I would want to block are strong enough to break my block anyway, so I started two handing my longsword. Currently trying a halberd but honestly the damage is pathetic, the R2 attack takes too long to wind up and the charge attack takes too much stamina. So I'm going to grab a two handed sword next. I wanted a STR build. I have a STR build. 50 STR, 28 VIT, 20 VIG, 18 END.
Starting class was a Thief because I wanted lowest base Faith since I have no need for miracles. The additional starting Luck was nice as well for drops, minimal though it may have been.
I discarded all of my items at the start of the game to go for a Thief/Deprived run. That turned out to be a really painful since there were no weapon pickups in the starter area like previous games. I had to farm those beginner assholes for a long ass time before I got a broken shortsword.

Strength/Faith but it's really not working out as well as I'd liked. Even with heavy armour I'm getting trashed in Lothric Castle and the Knights are taking 6 hits with a +8 sword with Lightning Blade.

Later on realized that curved swords are love, ended the game more or less as pure Dex, wielding in turn the regular old scimitar, the pointiff's curved blade and the curved sword you get from nameless king. Completely dropped the magic buff thing due to falling in love with pointiff's sword.
I still end up going for the pointiff's the most in PvP. The WA is so good for catching people trying to roll away from you, no one ever seems to correctly judge the ridiculous range it has.
The one from the king is mostly just for style and for the fact that it has really crazy range for a curved sword, good for PvE. Too bad the WA is not very good for PvP, otherwise it'd have become my full-time main weapon.

Started off as an assassin, found the sorceries underwhelming so I changed to Herald, got bored of the shield and spear and switched to the uchigatana then thought luck and dex might be cool for the katana and switched to thief. dark souls 1 had lightning spears that were effective if used in conjunction with a weak to moderate melee weapon for clean up.
In vanilla dark souls 2, you could slap on a few rings and have 200 lightning spears, 48 great lightning spears and 10 sunlight spears that could easily take down every boss up to NG+7

You've got Chaos Orb, and Chaos Vestige, more than enough to make a full build. Just don't expect to kill anybody PvP. That's what you have your trusty generic straight sword spam for.

I got soul spear as well. But the fp cost compared to the like 30 more dmg just doesnt seem worth it. Same problem with the soulmass spells.

Yeah, those are your only real choices until you're basically done with the game.
At high INT you get pretty respectable damage though, my heavy soul arrow can halve the HP of most invaders at 58 INT, and my crystal soul spear can one shot.

I don't plan builds. I play each game adapting as I go. So if I get a decent sounding weapon that requires faith, I do that. If I'm burning stamina too quickly I level that. So on.
Magic has never sounded interesting to me for various reasons so I only dump enough in for a basic spell or two. I tend to go for heavy armor though and I always use a shield. I upgrade a weapon or two plus a bow. Beyond that it's just filling any gaps. I never care about drop rate or anything. But dex vs str? Whichever strikes me early, then around 8 hours in I lock in my choices. But by end game I tend to be heavy on health, just behind in stamina, and highish in whatever weapon stat I use.
3 is pissing me off because levels come slower and I'm having to fucking pour souls in equip weight like crazy. Havel's ring helps but damn I want to spread it out better without giving up my clunky armor.
