most of these things can be explained though, just saying. I believe they also have been, several times, but nowadays everyone just ignores this pasta. I can see why the story could be confusing since not everything is explained outright as you would expect from this kind of game, and it undeniably has a lot of holes, but it's fine. I think people expected it to have a GOTY-tier story and it just ended up being kind of okay. Its definitely not as bad as that pasta makes it out to be though.

I was hoping it'd be more interesting with the missing girl and getting to meet her, but you never do, and they never explain the deer. The time travel was enough mystery, all the other shit they tacked on was just a lazy way to maintain interest. Big disappointment.

I dont think anyone was surprised by the ending. people were calling it on /v/ and everywhere else after the release of the first ep. This game wouldve been so much better if they changed the ending, or even just added a few more, the "your choices matter" warning was pointless in the end as nothing you do has any real impact.
I dont think they needed to explain the deer though. It was pretty obviously tied to Rachel's will, or ghost if you like. It was another part of the indian magic or whatever, that was supposed to make Blackwell special. It probably also granted Max her powers. Leaving that part vague and mystical was fine, and probably for the best since the game director was pretty terrible at tying things together in an interesting and original way.

I think Kate's suicide impacted me more than knowing that she lived in the Bay ending. It seems like people just forget everything they felt during the playthrough and judge the whole game based on the last 5 minutes.
And assuming there are multiple universes then your choices do matter, everything just gets reset in the one bay or bae ending.

Comfy yet shallow casual CYOA game.

The only interesting thing in this game, it's time mechanic, is completely underused. If this game were made with the mentality which went into making of games like Monkey Island, Grim Fandango the humor would have been actually good, the adventure elements would be much better, the story wouldn't be Beverly Hills-tier and the time mechanic would be used much much better I believe.
I completely understand if girls age 12-16 and boys 12-14 like this game, everything above probably points to some kind of mental/emotional instability.
