Making a hentai action game. How can I make impregnation a compelling mechanic?
>>
>>334654173
Act 1, things get pretty bad
Act 2, time travel is involved
Act 3, you start playing as the antagonist
Act 4, Switch back to protagonist, time paradox demon appears (or something, probably not demons) Basically you fucked with time too much and it created a something to wipe the slate clean
Ending, no spoilers

Gameplay, where do I start.

Left click: Light comboes
Right Click + Left Click: Heavy comboes
WASD: Movement
1, 2, 3: Spell selection
Shift: runs
Shift + Left click/right click does a light or heavy dash attack
tab switches to magic comboes from melee comboes

You get spells you can equip by killing boss monsters

Doing comboes fills a finisher meter where you finish the combo with a light or heavy attack to do a light or heavy finisher that doesn't kill but does massive damage

As per anons suggestion, I worked on scaling the FOV up smoothly and slowly as you gain speed. It will still need tweaking, but heres this webm where I go mildly fast, and I have another with more speed.

Scaling it appropriately per obstacle/puzzle will be important but easy to implement now that I have the framework done. Timelines in UE4 were a pain to learn, had an issue where they would update exponentially and the camera would warp inside itself as it went over 360 FOV.

Thanks, its a puzzle platformer for the most part, though I plan to integrate shifting genres of gameplay in a few ways. The 3rd person bug pawn being one of the first, and some transitions to 2d orthographic views. Also shrinking, which is going to be fun to play with.

Those flowers boost speed, which I have mapped to level designs that make a puzzle out of finding the correct path to follow, number of flowers to hit, combining them with other mechanics and things that change your environment so the puzzles are integrated into the landscapes.

This was last progress, finishing the camera system, movements, terrain alignment, and minor animations for it.
Shoutout to animator bro though who offered to help with animations, you da best.

I'm not going to college to learn, I'm going to college for the "guarantee" that I'm worth something, because even if you contributed constantly to maintaining Linux, GNU tools and have tons of original, highly complex and well written projects on Github, you are guaranteed a shitty wage than the memedev who learned js at some for-profit shithole.

And "might be useful" is a dubious thing. Students in CS courses aren't taught ASM despite it too "might be useful". Higher education shouldn't be focused on making you "more rounded". It's completely lost all meaning as the corporate world has sucked it dry of any intellectual sovereignty. Now it's a place for you to be peddled around as an alumni so they can sink their hooks into other people's pockets and you can go work for a sweatshop like IBM and kill yourself because life's RNG didn't favor you.

This is why we make a cheeky game about how awful and soul-sucking society becomes when it's a profit driven capitalist society that lets groups of ruling plutocrats shape the world, specifically by portraying a hyper-exaggerated pessimistic criticism on the very abstraction under the guise of far-future dystopian post-cyberpunk, in the vain hope that we can narrowly dodge the horrifying monstrosity that awaits you in the world.

Fuck. I think I've become a socialist by accident.

Sorry that you're studying in a shitty institution or a career that you don't like. And profit driven is not a bad thing itself either, socialism would crash and burn just as hard, if not harder.

socialism is what the world ran on before jews invented the exploitation of labor. the issue with socialism is not in abolishing a ruling economic class, but rather how to establish such a society in the first place, as all attempts to do so in the past have resulted in the same shit under a different name. Bolshevism, etc.

I do like CS. I don't like studying CS because I'm an autodidact. It's like driving a GT3 race car in a track spec full of Miatas. You want to go fast, stretch your legs, become better, maybe get into F1 or LMP1, but instead you are boxed in doing 100km/h on the straights because there's no way for you to pass the assholes in front of you.

You won't catch me in a "career", working my ass off to have my labor exploited. No, I'm not a moral man, I have no problems with joining ranks of the Bourgeoisie, making a company. I have an idea but I need to finish this degree in the off chance that I crash and burn. I'm just stewing nicely in my angst because I'm deciding to play it safe, and not reaching my potential is infuriating.

So we make games. Until us playing it safe gets in the way, of course. :(

The rich get richer and the poor stay the same, essentially.

And not even in the cliche sense as occupy wall street. But what good has capitalism done in Africa? The Middle East? North-Eastern Asia? These are resource rich lands filled with industrious people, yet time and again something happens and whatever tiny amounts of progress they make climbing out of the hole they were dug into gets knocked out from under them and they are tossed back into the pit of religious fanaticism, murder, terrorism, etc.

For what reasons? Empires playing chess with pieces that hate each other? Corporations exerting influence over domestic and foreign governments to keep harmful, malicious leaders in power to keep wages down? Brain bleeding as these country's best leave for greener pastures (and who can blame them)? All of the above, if I had to guess.

And the West is not without it's problems. Alienation from their labor has caused Westerners quite a bit of trouble. Not only has the product of their labor become less than an abstraction to them (nevermind how the value they produce is leeched from them), but it's become something for them to fantasize about! While purely speculative, perhaps this is the root of the cause of the growing counts of mental illness developing amongst the West, Anxiety disorders and depression especially.

Imagine describing today's society and attitudes to early humans. It's no life to live. Capitalism did us good by developing us, just as aristocracy and feudalism did. But just like those two systems, they became fraught with peril and were dumped successively. With capitalism it is a constant fight to not revert to the absolutely horrendus conditions that existed in the 19th and 20th centuries for the proletariat.

Perhaps there is a better method. Perhaps the answer is not to abolish the bourgeoisie, but to put a hard limit on the amount of labor they can leech from their workers. I cannot say, but it is worth at least trying.
>>
is this for real? Is this actually what we're talking about here?
>>
>>334663637
>The rich get richer and the poor stay the same, essentially.
No, and that's exactly the point. Inequality is a problem, but after the industrial revolution global poverty fell from 90% to something like 10% (accounting for inflation and all that). And countries getting invaded for their resources is not capitalism's fault. As any system, it's not perfect, but you're making some ignorant remarks that you think of as facts because they support your viewpoint.
>With capitalism it is a constant fight to not revert to the absolutely horrendous conditions that existed in the 19th and 20th centuries for the proletariat

cute

I've been thinking about redoing my protag, but I kinda like the place that they are in right now.
>>
I want to make two games.

First is a game where you take control of the bad guy and have to kill the protagonists.

One of the protags is the "main character" and will have plot armor.

The more of their friends that are alive the more plot armor they have. For example there will be 5 people in a cabin. Kill them one by one until eventually you kill them all. It's single player and the protags are AI. Plot armor will make things like you tripping, or convient escape route, or maybe something falling happen to protect the protag.

Second game is a medieval fantasy business simultar but that's for later.

The first project is one I call "In the Woods" and I feel for a short game selling at 10 or 15 it could really do well

Mostly I develop machine learning tho so I'm missing some basic game knowledge.

Finally got around to implementing parallax effects for the backgrounds. Gives a better sense of height, reduces memory usage, and should make targeting ground units easier since you aren't flying by them at a million miles per hour

Now working on fixing the ground unit AI to adjust for not being on the same plane as the jets. So far it's not too bad, but I can't get the HUD indicators to center on them for some reason

Made a proper level database with a single, flexible level class, instead of my previous hack solution of having every level be a unique class. Wasn't a big deal for the demo but obviously not a long-term solution. So level design will be much easier going forward
