Rumours of pc port this year. If not, I'm gonna buy it for my 360, not being a master race fag, just late to the party

Are you joking bro. It's like my favorite game ever.

you play as Jetstream Sam after he's resurrected from Metal Gear Rising and the Russian GRU leader has made a huge space metal gear that melts people's cities off.

Your objective is to save your cities from being melted by Dr. Evil in an Orbital Frame the only way you know how. by boosting about on your knees and occasionally hate-fucking them with your elbow rockets.

it's not bad.

There's an enemy behind you! Quick, turn around!

Keep turning!

Keep turning!

Keep turning!

Now fire!

Shooters can be okay on a console but they have to be slow and methodical. Gears of War is fun on a console because you have all the time in the world to tap your reticle into place.

Vanquish is too fast to really play well with a stick.

Even if it got a PC port, though, Platinum is world-renowned for their lazy-ass last-minute console ported PC releases and there would be awful forced mouse accel anyway.

I didn't play this game, so I could be assuming things, but...

Anon the only difference between the two is the d-pad and left analog stick are switched, neither of those should be being used to aim or shoot, that's movement and whatever is bound to the D-pad.

Your shit aim has nothing to do with the controller.

every console game has aim assists weather you like it or not, how much you want to rely on it is up to you but the sensitivity isn't what changes that reliance/dependence.

>>334655949
i could use my trackball mouse to play FPS games if i wanted to and i'm sure if i did it enough i'd get better at it.

trackball, mouse, flightsticks, analogue sticks, wheels, not all of them are optimal for everything however i'd say that analogue sticks being a standard for a while that is able to do adjusted easily for the user allows for a decent level of play and in a third person shooter which is the only kind of shooter you should be playing on console they work just fine

>allows for a decent level of play
Good for you if you're willing to settle for "decent". I'd rather use something that can be considered at least "good".
>third person shooter which is the only kind of shooter you should be playing on console
If the game is fast paced and involves aiming, it's not meant for consoles.
>>
>>334655480
I strafe while aiming more than I actually aim the reticle onto the enemy because it's hard to sit still in Vanquish and at the same time being in cover is frowned upon. I'm not saying I'm an aiming god otherwise, it's just noticeably easier on the 360 which I've played on but don't own.
>>
>>334657043
>For shooters, mouse is the standard.
yeah i agree, that's why I play first person shooters on pc.
Most third person shooters don't require that much aiming anyway though. and this argument that vanquish is so fast that you can't see what the fuck's going on is stupid because half the shooting i did was in slow motion.

it's no so fast that you can't aim. that's retarded.

I love how instead of explaining why I'm wrong you just project.

I'll say it a second time so maybe you can give a proper counter argument.

The only difference between an xbox controller and a ps3 controller is the left joystick and Dpad.

Therefore, unless the Left joystick and D-pad are for aiming and shooting, and NOT movement, your aim is not being effected by the controller.

Is the left joystick used for aiming? is the D-pad used for aiming?
If the answer for both of these is no, then the dipshit here is you.

I hate when people hate on the game for its story when it's CLEARLY not the sort of game where you pay attention to the narrative.

The brilliance of Vanquish (and possibly it's big marketing error) is that it's control scheme, art style and cliche story are identical to any of the "me-too" cover TPS games that were dime-a-dozen back in the time where everyone and their dog tried to ape the success of Gears of War.

It has the same controls as any other TPS and cover and yet mechanic behind them are just in the other galaxy in terms of options available to player at any given moment.

And even despite the constraints of having to be just like any other generic post GoW TPS (almost parody macho protagonist and definitely parody macho marines, sexy assistant lady, kewl looking guns and ebil ruskies), they still had unique setting of rotating space station and employed technique from shmups and fast action games where player is visually overwhelmed to create an exhilarating sensation of controlled chaos.

There are a lot of reductive shitposters claiming that PG* is one trick pony but here is a game that basically overhauls and deconstructs mechanics of entire TPS genre, a single flash of originality in a stale swamp of shooters.

vanquish is good, if not slightly overrated. it's basically your typical dudebro cover-based TPS, but with Platinum's patented 'slow-down-time' mechanic (that they use in every game), knee-boosting, and a neat weapon upgrade system.

Very fun game. A little on the short side.
>>

>>334660320

>>
>>334660562
BD was actually directed by someone who worked under Shinji Mikami. That's a reason they feel similar.
>>
>>334660320
however i also think Vanquish also exposed that there are intrinsic constraints to shooter genre itself and that you can push the envelope only so far.

TPS and FPS are basically "virtual shooting gallery". There is only so much depth you can bring to the act of shooting besides just "shoot that pixel very fast". This makes attempts to make the main activity of the game (shooting) rather barren in terms of thing you can do -- at any time the *best* option is always "hit that pixel". There are no alternatives.

Reloading is probably the only wrinkle you can add to it, but it is basically the same a variation on energy gauge from action and fighting games. Interestingly the only timing mechanic on reloading came from western game -- GoW's active reload.

One avenue for expanding depth is providing variety to movement and Vanquish does that with rocket knee-sliding and dodge button.
>>
>>334660562
>>334661469

Instead did we get another bayonetta game because no one understood how good the game was.
What I mostly liked about the game was all the gameplay things you could find on your own like the fact that every weapon has it's own melee animation in which you are able to still use the AR mode ( as in use the shotgun melee which is a backflip that you can activate while sliding and when you hit someone can you activate ar mode in the middle of the flip to put some rounds into the baddies) or that you can throw a series of punches via assault rifle melee which ends with a super powered punch.
Or the fact that you can destroy all the weapons on those big russian killer bots.
It's like as if you really try to use a prototype suit and you just read the basic manual book but you find out fight after fight that the suit can do a whole lot more than the basic stuff.
This game is the shit man.

They last time he cultivated talent we got Hideki Kamiya and people like that.

I wish somebody would just give him money to do what he wants.

I when I play games on console I generally set the sensitivity/turn speed to the maximum setting and still often find that it's not nearly sensitive enough for me and I have the same issue for most games on PC that have console support as well.

It doesn't bother me very much, but I much prefer it when the games allow absurd sensitivities for people who can manage to use an analogue stick at those sensitivities. I would much rather be allowed to go up to a theoretical level of thrity if I damn well please rather than being stuck at the baseline ten.

Aim assist rustles my jimmies and paradoxically I find that it causes me to miss more often in many games because of over corrections. If there's a setting to turn it off, then I will do that every single time. Even if I didn't have issues with it I would still turn it off simply on princial

he got too high up and got tangled in all this management and businesses bullshit. Current AAA costs a lot and it's unfortunate his first contractor was Bethesda of all things.
Last time he went with market data we got RE4, but by this point he seems tired.

> There's an enemy behind you! Quick, turn around!
Release aim button.
Literally turn around your character.
Press aim button.

Vanquish doesn't have aim assist AND has autistical amount of sensitivity options.

I don't have a problem with the game not running at 60fps or being played on a controller and like Platinum games. Its just that one anon being lame
