I'm pretty much just asking about the amount of content. The Koei Musou games all play pretty much the same so I know what to expect there, but Hyrule Warriors had a shitload of content. As long as Pirate Warriors has a good roster and a bunch of side content, I'd be happy with it.

the one thing i dont like about the game is the reliance on assist moves to get !s which are required for a perfect ranking
especially since they only happen at the end of combos meaning most enemies will already be dead or thrown back by the time it comes out

It's pretty good but I like HW better because of the mission variety and giant bosses. Every mission in PW3 plays exactly the same and there's no real incentive to use other characters.

I usually just stick with the Empires versions of the games for that reason. But the odds of getting one of those for a licensed game is miniscule. Unless I'm wrong about remembering a Gundam game getting an Empires version. Then it's zero.

Really, in any musou when you are selecting weapons you are just choosing a moveset. I've never understood why people have favourite characters in Dynasty Warriors when the only real difference gameplay-wise was weapons.
Just select combat style/devil fruit from a list rather than calling it "weapon". Or just have a list of characters and select them to use their moves. I love DW Empires, would love to see customizable characters in other side series, along with the whole risk-style map strategy. In OP that could be the various islands or regions..

They're musous but with gundams so you get what you pay for. The main thing about the games is that you capture fields to make the end boss appear but it led to really bad map design in the 3rd one where the fields were just square boxes connected together by narrow pathways. The latest one, Reborn, has much more open maps so check that one out if you want to get into it.
