Slow motion. Any game where you have the ability to slow down time gets, like, and extra two points for me.

Good movement mechanics that allow you to keep moving fluidly. Infamous games are great for this

>Good movement mechanics that allow you to keep moving fluidly. Infamous games are great for this

this, something about its movement, the ice launch up, hover across a rooftop, slide down a pole then glide along some tracks. Fluid smooth movement is extremely satisfying.

My only issue with infamous was the controls, having to switch out things each time was a chore, custome mapping of controls would have proven to be a godsend. Creating a combat control set up for different enemies and a locomotion set up so that each button is a diff move eg ice launch, firebird, tether instead of having to switch between them all constantly

Good dodges or movement systems. It feels satisfying as fuck to dodge into Nargacuga's attacks in MH. Tales of Graces made side steps feel like a dream. Jude's backstep thing was amazing as well. Felt cool to dust fade into the back and pop up behind the enemy.

ill purposely let infectors jump on me so i can mash them off. its been a while since i played but i think that instantly kills them. since you cant dismember them with shots, this way feels better for me.
>>
>>334637789
>Ice launch
That launch made me hard as fuck. More games need a movement system like Infamous. I'd like some kind of skating with a bit of parkour thrown in.

on second play through i had to force myself not to get her powers again for it. It makes traversing the city so much better, the only way it could be improved is maybe a charge for it, using up more power cells to go higher, it would be pretty great to use up all your juice for a massive launch over a building.

On harder difficulties, the grapple they do (just the process of jumping on you) actually does a lot of damage, but you're right, infectors and lurkers are one shot by the defensive finishers.

why they didnt tie it in to your fuel cells i dont know, allowing your to strike infinitely or launch sky high unti out of juice just makes sense. Becoming a non stop flying eagle on fire during the thunderstorm segment wouldve been too much.

Speaking of satisfying game mechanics, the thunderstorm in infamous 2, the environment lending itself to your powers was one oft he most satisfying things ever

I bought a used copy for 360 for 8 bucks on Friday and goddamn I'm having a blast. Just wanted to start a thread because I seriously love that lunge attack. I noticed when I got shot a bunch of times I could see through the holes in my body and saw the grass in front of me through the holes. Its the little things that like that that devs do that I absolutely love.

Satisfying body reactions in certain FPS games. Getting a headshot in Timesplitters 2 felt amazing, for example, because of the way the head snapped back and the body fell when you hit it, even with a normally unsatisfying weapon like a pistol.

Also, hitting certain parts of the body and you get corresponding effects (shoot the legs and they fall to their knees, shoot their arms and the arms come off etc.

Projectiles (bullets, arrows, thrown items) actually require realistic aiming. That is, having to fire ahead or above the target to account for distance and gravity. So sad that it took a mod to make this work in Skyrim.

Turok Evolution is the first game that comes to mind in this situation. Shoot off an enemies arm/leg and they grab the bloody stump rolling around in pain. Shooting enemies to put them in critical health can cause them to start limping. Hell I remember a specific enemy would actually become so weak from the gunfire he'd drop his gun, get on his knees and surrender.

wasnt a fan of campaign, the online i thoight was 10/10 though with the exception of the assault class. Naturally every server banned that class after a bit so it balanced out.

>early game
>assassination mode
>go sabo class
>cloak self
>sneak behind enemy lines
>find target behind 5 medics
>drop grenade
>bullet into corpse
>team turns around to find the target dead and me standing there
>all hell is unleashed upon me as i die of laughter

The rotating game modes was such a nice idea, the second that game mode finished it just announced search and destroy. It made it so intense to have a gamev locked at 3-3 and its announced the last mode is assassination.

Nice.

what? this ist the worst! No martial arts fighter would do it and certainly no knight in heavy armor. It's a totally unnatural motion. only exception is to evade heavy objects
>>
Games don't do this as much as they should and I've yet to see it implemented particularly well in a TPS or a FPS, but gun kata/gun-fu. Idk if I'd call it a 'mechanic' necessarily but there aren't enough games where I can do crazy as fucking shit maneuvers with firearms.

DMC series and Bayonetta are the only games I can think of that do that.
