This is its biggest strength IMO. Because the game is so utterly simplistic the only things the film needs to take from it is the visual style and 'grumpy red bird and his mates beat evil green pigs'. They're free to do literally anything they want outside those very minor constrictions, which is probably why the trailer was good enough to at least earn a chuckle from me here and there.
I don't even think normies care about candy birds at this stage

It was revealed this week that it's still not in full production and VA hasn't been recorded, which surprised a lot of people given it's supposed to be out soon-ish. I wouldn't be surprised if they're seeing how R&C does first.

I think it's funny that Ratchet is voiced by Johnny Test and in the Sly movie, Sly will be voiced by Johnny Test's dad.
Though I do wonder why they didn't give the guy who did Sly in the games the job to do him in the movie.
