If you're beating the game legit, you won't have the L1 sword. Besides that, I'm pretty sure the mirror shield is mandatory at one point of the late-game.

Oh, yeah, you're right about the master sword. You have to charge up your sword if you're using the Master Sword but not the tempered sword. The shields are not required according to the guide, so I didn't upgrade that.

I knew one was in LA, but I'm pretty sure there was also one in LttP.
I specifically remember either the magic cape or cane of byrna not letting you past it because the flames would bounce you back anyways.
Like I said though, it might not be a mandatory hallway, and just something that had an extra goodie in it.
It was in the dark world version of death mountain if I recall.
