Skyrim did not have a great actual story however it did offer you a fuckton of freedom to make your own that were extremely varied and interesting. Fallout 4 is the same but to a much lesser degree due to Jew Howard chopping off the roleplay elements with a rusty machete.
But Witcher 3 has a genuinely good story as far as games though (based off books so not as impressive) and TLoU's actual story was shit but the characters were fantastically written and acted so that helped it immensely.

I know this is bait, but I'd like to take this occasion to talk about Witcher 3 and something that bothered me about its' story.
I understand that it tried to put a lot more emphasis on emotion, to streamline it and to have an emotional closure to the saga and I can appreciate how well they put it together in that regard, but I still think it was a very simple story and, more importantly, it bothers me that they fucked with established canon and previous books' stories to create it the way they did. They took more complex elements and simplified them to tell a story that can be consumed by the masses, and they removed some major things such as Coen, the witcher that Ciri liked the most (after Geralt) and the fact that Emyr wanted to fuck his daughter. They also turned the White Frost into an alien eldritch monster creature thing that destroys world just for the hell of it instead of the inevitable entropy of the universe like it was in the books and retconned Eredin into killing the king, also the whole thing with Avalla'ch.
Ultimately, like I said, I understood why they did it and I can appreciate how well put together the story was, but I still think it was unforgivable to simply things like this just for the sake of a happy ending when everything about the book series was about the subversion of such cliches and I am upset that /v/ gave this a pass.
