Yes.
They're a bit rough around the edges thanks to their tank controls but they have a lot of good things going for them. Particularly the second game, which does away with the interconnected ruins in favor of a Zelda formula and a bigger emphasis on missions and bosses. Misadventures of Tron Bonne is neat too, even if its too short and easy.
If you're able to tolerate things like tank controls and some early 3D weirdness they're very charming games with a great cast, setting and some cool ideas.
I played them for the first time just recently and had a lot of fun. They're surprisingly good games.

Nah. I don't usually agree Bunnyhop's opinions but he's not wrong about the combat and camera mechanics being notably dated, or the dungeons being kind of ugly.
But the appeal of the first Legends game is really the overworld stuff. Doing sidequests with the NPCs, fighting the Bonne family, repairing the town over time, retreading old ground and discovering that every dungeon in the game forms one labyrinth, searching for new sub weapons and armor power ups. The game has a great vibe and it's just a fun world to be in, you're not playing it for the minute to minute action. In a lot of ways its like to Mega Man what Wind Waker was to the other 3D Zeldas, and that's not just because they're both cartoony pirate settings.
That said I hate how /v/ seems to just parrot youtubers for their opinions these days. I like MatthewMatosis too but once he comments on something it seems like it becomes taboo here to disagree with him.
As long as you are able to learn its controls its a great game with actually still great controls, just different.
When you start the game, press start and change movement from L1/R1 to directional, these controls are the one more suited to new players, while advanced players prefer the L1R1.
The stories are full of heart, the game had tons of innovation for the era it was released (before OoT) and the atmosphere is astonishing.
If you do play, make sure you talk to everyone. inspect every item, make sure to go to the library and learn of the islands secrets, this is a living breathing world where the NPCs change what they say after events happen, and will change what they say or even flat out ignore you with the karma system.
The side games and mini games are amazing too, things that may seem mundane like kicking a can into a bakery, or participating in the TV show events are awesome, but they don't even touch what the games main idea is, exploration.
The dungeons of the first game are all inter-connected, and the idea of finding items to donate to the museum, or even new weapons is a thrill.
I really hope you don't listen to the nay-sayers of these games, most of them start it and get mad because A) its not their idea of a Mega Man game or B) they can't take some time to learn how a game works.

The combat is still fun. It's as "bad" as combat in classic Castlevania. It has it's own rhythm and works great
They're comfy as fuck but the gameplay is very of its time with decent dungeon-like level design and combat almost always devolving into "circlestrafe and fire".

They're good games once you can get past the controls and camera not being up to the standard of what came after them. That said, the camera is still probably better than a lot of early PS2 games.

You should definitely play Misadventures of Tron Bonne too. It plays a lot alike but has a minigame feel to it. I'm not wild about 1 or 2 of the stage types, but it feels like a must-play to fans of the Legends games.
I just finished the first one yesterday. First time.
I used to think Tron Bonne was a hot piece of ass looking at all her art. Then I played the game. She's literally a child who's just hit puberty and is confused about her first feelings for a boy, probably because she has no mother figure to explain female sexuality to her. I can't get it up to that.

The Legends series is really good. Good music, endearing characters, fun weapons. Also, It did most of the 3D gameplay innovation that people usually attribute to OoT.
The controls take some getting used to though, since the first one started development before the dual-analog controllers.

felt good to pass it on my first try when going back to replay it though, same with the robot at the dig site.
playing this game without a memory card back in the day was an absolute nightmare.
