Eh, the circles were annoying, but you have to do them what, 20 or so times per playthrough? They were pretty easy, too. Wasn't really a major thing to me.
The bigger problem I had was the fact that all the best weapons were crafted rather than found/dropped, and many of them required you to use souls you could only get once per playthrough. SotN was cool because exploration was worthwhile, you'd find cool shit. DoS, there wasn't that much hidden stuff to find because most of it was bought or crafted.
