Doubt it. The game isn't particularly great, and the price tag is going to ward a lot of people off.

Sure it will have some bump at first from blizzard fanboys but it won't last.

Overwatch just lacks the depth needed for longevity. The characters are all easy to learn, easy to master. There are no advance techniques like surfing or rocket jumping.

Evolve is a different matter entirely. Evolve had a cancerous amount of DLC, whereas this is 40 bucks and you'll have every character and map forever.
Idk with this game at least the hype is about the characters mostly.

Even with 12 players the game is a boring clusterfuck. The game doesn't punish you at all for constantly spamming because of the infinite ammo and short reloads on almost every character.

Cant really compare 40 bucks and get everything to 200 bucks and get everything.

I feel like if I get better I'll be playing the characters correctly, but something just feels really unnatural with them. They feel really weighty maybe? They don't feel like arena characters that can be controlled perfectly.
Also sucks how much information is pushed onto the sides of the screen. Like I have to basically memorize the cool down timers.

The game will be like Dirty Bomb.
It will see above average popularity for the first 1-2 months. Then it will start to decline, till reaching a mediocre, but stable, population.
Once this happens, they'll start releasing carrots on sticks to help keep players attached. Like skins/items are in tf2.

It will last for 5+ years because Blizzard will keep investing time and money into it for that long. In terms of long term popularity though, who knows? It might catch on like Hearthstone, or it might stay consistently mediocre in popularity like HotS.

I can barely think of a single thing blizzard fixed with this game.
Like they added some basic team abilities that force pubs to work with eachother and thats nice, and they also forced loadouts to a specific character. But for actual skill balance I can't think of anything they actually invented/improved.

Hearthstone has good carrots...which as I said...will equal success for the game.
As far as I'm aware, there are no carrots for overwatch yet. Unless they sell the heroes for some kind of ingame money.
If they don't introduce new skins/carrots/etc, the game wont see an amazing population.

I hope it does. Everything feels relatively balanced aside from a few underpowered heroes and it's quick and easy to get in and out of a match.
Without it being F2P it probably won't compete with TF2 but it doesn't really need to with a lot people enjoying the beta.
