MGS1 is excellent story and presentation wise but playing it nowadays is a fucking chore. It's brutal compared to 2 and 3. I can't imagine going 3, PW, V, 1.

It's the best game because it perfected the core gameplay. Took what was great about 1 and perfected it. Other games added superfluous shit and set pieces that detracted from the cool stealthing
