Why exactly was GTA5 less good than GTA4?
I'd say V was better overal, but GTAIV made a far stronger impression. It was a next-gen game that felt like such. It felt new and advanced.
Unlike everything else that has been released in this cycle, which has been pathetically underwhelming.

As for the empty world, he refers to the vast expanse of the map populated by rocks and grass that go virtually unused.
As for physics, in GTA IV you could shoot weapons out of people's hands, popping them in the leg would make them stagger and fall. People also didn't die when you shot them in the foot.

This. Gta 4 online was more fun with less stuff while the single player gave you the lasting impression
IV's story was basic rags to riches that's worked just fine for the series in the past, sure it wasn't "wacky" this time around but SP was still fine. V's SP is fucking worthless trying to get you to care about some fag who dies five minutes into the game (Brad) and all the heists except the first one are stupid gimmicks.

GTA4 might've been received better if it was in any way close to San Andreas, but it wasn't. Started that popular trend of the sequel being vastly inferior to the previous game.

The two main points that really put IV infront of V for me are the driving and the story.
I'm not saying that a story has to be all serious and dark, but V story was just boring. If they're gonna do a humorous and satirical story, atleast go completely overboard with it.
And the driving in V is just terrible, No enjoyment in it, might aswell be driving in a Saints Row game

SA was a clunky peice of shit with absolutely terrible graphics even for the time. Go back and play 4 now and its still stupidly fun, you get things that happen once in a million times because of the euphoria engine, thats just never happened before.
