It's because SEGA is pants on head retarded. They pushed out Sonic 06, which is unhyperbolically one of the worst games ever made. On top of that, they finally were started to perfect the formula they found with Sonic Unleashed, and they abandoned it to take a step down from it with Lost World, and then ruin it with Boom.
That's only in recent history, too. We can go on to talk about the poor attempts to follow up the Adventure games (which were bad, but for some reason have a following), and even before that how they neglected to release anything but a shitty racing game on the Saturn. They've literally been retarded since the Genesis days ended.
3D World may not have been a great game, but we've never gone a Nintendo console without at least one release of Nintendo's flagship franchise.
The incomprehensible retardation makes it okay.

If you actually read the original post I was replying to, you'd see that anon was stating that Sega abandoned Unleashed's gameplay with Lost World and further did so again with Boom, which obviously isn't the case since Sega didn't develop Boom and never intended it to be seen as a sequel to Lost World.
