I really want to know if planets can be destroyed. If so, absolutely yes. hard maybe if not
>$60 for two-hour long indieshit

>>334596783
Pirate, sure. I'm not convinced it will be good and I doubt they're offering any demos.
>>334597795
I don't think you can do shit to, or even on, planets.
It's basically Modded Minecraft without the fun, multiplayer, and Unique Crafting System. I like Space Sims, but I don't see a lot of footage of just space exploration, so I' gonna pirate it, wen does it come out?
>>334596783
>$67.09
>>334598039
That is what gets me
>it's a space sim exploration game guys
>show the same boring two planets over and over
>you can do all this other stuff guys!
>show very little footage of anything else, usually don't go into any depth
They finally showed off an intelligent species and he immediately says fuck this guy and doesn't interact with him.
GOG has been shilling this shit for at least half a year. It's always on the promotions page. I don't even see what's so good about it.
>>334598282
they cant show off their 40 minutes of repeating gameplay all at once anon.
>>334597090
/ss13g/ is leaking
>>334597992
the planets can definitely be terraformed by certain techs you can build
if someone buys it for me, i'll dick with it.
otherwise lol
>>334598282
this right here is why I (and probably anyone else who has seen gameplay footage) is skeptical of this game
What do you even fight, do, or interact with on each planet? If there was some sort of Metroid Prime esque series of puzzles and rooms with enemies and shit to collect on each planet you landed on I can see how it would be interesting. Flying around the cosmos looking for space dungeons to loot? Fuck yes.
Unfortunately it seems each planet is just a bunch of randomly colored grasses and liquids with random dinosaurs running around. You can go anywhere but there is no content to be found on any planet no matter how far you explore.
>>334598378
>>334598282
I just need a hard gimmick, that'll keep me hooked for hours. Like Minecraft is no special game, but the Mine's that go down to the World core will keep you occupied forever. Just like in darksouls, it's just a dungeon crawler, but the combat mechanics are so engaging. Even in Space sims like X.rebirth the core gimmick is the Space docking, and Space Strippers. That's what make these games attractive and not lame. No mans sky has none of that. It's just walk around on a planet, get into ship. Get off ship, walk around some more. No in depth info. just walking simulator. I wouldn't be surprised if this game is the next Firewatch
This still makes me so mad. I would pay 40 bucks at the most.
Why is it 60 dollars what a bunch of shitters.
Either they are hiding features or it'll be fucking boring after a few hours
So far from what we know
>You fly around and discover planets
>You can name procedually generated creatures... they'll be a dozen different species but with hundreds of colour/texture differences
>You get cash/whatever for discovering new species and ruins
>Can spend cash on suit upgrades so you can explore longer/different planet types... MAYbe shit upgrades but I read somewhere the ship isn't upgradable but that doesn't sound believable
>Robots on the surface and around planets will attack you if you harm life on the planets or try to go to some areas
Sounds pretty bare bones exploration, especially with minimal variety
Instead of billions of planets and a dozen creatures, I would of been fine with a hundred planets and thousand creatures, fuck
Also not being able to set up a mining station/private space dome home hangar or something to sell resources or buy better ships was a missed opportunity.
Nah.
>>334598780
I saw some more in depth footage on IGN the other day. You have guns that can mine into caves, and you have already established settlements accommodated by a robot AI, that you can interact with and trade. But they speak a foreign language, so you have to explore for some bullshit I guess, then you unlock the language or something, which will enable you acquire more complex services. Some AI's attack and some don't, the gunplay is solid. I'm still not sold, but I'll definitely be Pirating it from Gog

This is what worries me a lot, seen so many of the same species in practically every game play video. Realistically, to make sure it's not repetitive for each person, there still need to be hundreds, if not thousands of species variation. Keep seeing the same two legged lizard thing walking around in about 5 different colours.
>>334596783
it's a fucking walking simulator in space.
when people realise what kind of bland and empty piece of shit tech demo for just $67.09 it is, the butthurt and and fallout will be glorious.

oh god not this again, I was in a thread like, yesterday? or a couple days ago? where autists sperged out over this and were going back and forth on details

I don't want to start this up again, but there was like an hour long podcast where he said something to that effect, and then something along the same lines in a video with IGN on Friday I thought
I saw some other video earlier last week where he's talking about how the terrain is thrown out then re-generated rather than loaded or downloaded, but I'm pretty sure that based on everything else he said that doesn't include changes you've made in your game (and some anons were speculating it might be stored as part of your save file as like a "delta" rather than having to save entire worlds, just re-generating them then applying your changes, like watching a replay in starcraft rather than watching a recorded video)
>>334603008
Don't listen to him. They're all retards

Also, the server never records a change for other people, because it would require way too much storage space probably, most of the changes, nobody else would see unless it's in space.
>>334604361
So I won't be able to visit a planet someone else has changed?
>>334604472

>creatures are dead

>gone and scratched out for everyone
so to be clear it's not clear specifically what is "significant" or not, but all changes ARE SAVED LOCALLY
I'm not a child or a NEET, so I'm going to buy it on GOG if it's optimized. Look forward to hundreds of hours exploring while listening to podcasts and audiobooks. Finally a space game that doesn't look fucking ugly.

How many hours did you get from exploring/flying around the millions of procedural planets in Spore?
You might get a dozen hours from collecting/upgrading ships but then your not going to find exploring to be anymore fun since it'll be five planet types with one unique resources on each type and with slightly different lay outsI'll still be picking it up day one though
>>334610069

>>334610672
>those 2 games

>>334598952
>I would of been fine with a hundred planets
If it were hundreds instead of billions, they would still have to generate them the same way. You can't realistically expect a game to have even a single well crafted planet. At best, you would get a desert/frozen planet with a single well made city. This is why space games will never be great. It is simply too much work.

Avoided Spore, but I played Minecraft a lot for 2 years. I value games I can mute and endlessly do whatever comes to mind on them while I focus the better chunk of my drunk brain on podcasts and audiobooks. Can't exactly do that with a competitive game or The Witcher. After a while Minecraft grew too stale yes so I stopped visiting it and solely played Paradox games. Nowadays I'm in the mood for something that isn't a strategy game. It's not going to be literally the only game I play but it's something I will definitely play with over the years. Either way it won't be hard to get my 60 dollars worth. When I want to recharge and relax I find that routine funner than countless hours seething on /v/ like a jobless neckbeard tit (not aimed at you).

>>334597084
First post best post.
It's been obvious time and time again that it is just hollow. They've been plainly lying about the content and features, passing obviously doctored videos as legit content, and doing all shorts of shady things, like announcing it as a PC exclusive and testing it with Oculus Rift, before backing out and saying they never planned a PC version and that it was PS4 exclusive all along, until Sony threw money at them and obviously had a word on it...
Won't even pirate.
>>334614014
Wow...
>>334596783
Fuck no, i don't need another fucking podcast game. I already have XCOM2 and Fallout 4. I want something with a story, characters and choices - not exploration for the sake of it.
>>334613617
I think the combat could get pretty complicated with flares and maneouvres but the world is bleak and boring
>>334602598
Are you 12 or just not robust enough?
Depends on how intense they make flying in space feel. If entering and exiting planets atmospheres and going to lightspeed or whatever feels dull and not awesome everytime I do it then that's basically the entire game and it'll be shit.
Did you guys see how horrible the graphics are on PS4? What the hell are the developers doing?
I don't care much for multiplayer games, but the one thing I was interested in was exploring the galaxy with a friend. There's no reason why this game should have some bullshit dark souls anti-friendship system.
