Seriously RDR was such a disappointment to me, believing in all that hype and shit, that i couldn't care less about a new one.

I kind of agree with what you're saying about not much to do. It felt like the sandbox elements took a backseat to the main story compared to the GTAs.
However, the atmosphere was fantastic and immersive. I found the main story to be enough to keep me occupied, and the zombie mode kept me busy after that.
I just wish there was a PC port.

green = Kentucky/West VA
orange =northwest/rocky mountains
pink =eastern coast/blue Ridge /Virginia, Eastern Tennessee, down to NC, SC, Georgia and Louisiana (black balsam, Roanoke, clingman are all real places in NC, TN, and VA)
Blue = Mexico.
I loved how RDR included all the different "western themed " regions, looks like they're doing it again but even better. Can't wait to see how they do the Blue Ridge since I live there.
