How does /v/ feel about State of Decay? I feel like it's a pretty fun game. Nothing to write home about but it does some cool stuff I've wanted in a zombie survival game.
>>
>>334547163
Its fun but clunky at times not to mention fighting more then 20+ zombies at any one time slows shit down to a crawl. Not to mention physics engine has a tendency of flipping and warping your cars into the environment if you were not careful.
>>
As someone who never cared for zombies and thought the genre was completely overdone in various mediums, it's surprisingly pretty fun and addicting. I only stopped playing because new story missions wouldn't trigger for a long time for some reason. Got to the military base before I stopped.
>>
absolutely no reason to play it when you've got project zomboid.
>>
It's a bit like meth.
>>
>>334547163
I feel like they need to make a sequel/remake for current gen and fix all the issues it had.

I enjoy it much more than I should. If they fixed this game, like actually fixed it, the damn thing would be superb.
>>
>>334547163
i played it when it first came out for the 360 and played it solid for a week until I had looted the entire world.
got a bit pissed off with the perma death and characters going missing every time you turnt your console off. I heard they have patched that now and there is a basic endless mode now. I havent played it since then

it was fun as heck though, best zombie game I had played until dying light
>>
>>334548208
I always heard about the permadeath and it was a turn off to me but I never had that problem. It seems like it's pretty hard to die and you have to make pretty big blunders and bad decisions to do it. I rarely ever take an escort either.
>>
>>334547163
hate the goofy melee. I wish it was just simple swinging, not action movie kung fu shit
>>
>>334547163
It feels like a solid first entry, but they need to make another game to incorporate the stuff they learned as developers and from the feedback about the mechanics.
>>
>>334548208
>turnt
Consider self immolation

>still waiting on Class 4
I would not be wholly surprised if it just turns into DayZ after the first week. I dunno how many years its been since they announced it.
>>
>>334548208
Its called Breakdown and now its pretty much 99 levels of Feral rape. Fire an unsurpassed weapon and its game over for you. Its only really good if you want to collect all of the guns and get the highscore thanks to the 99x multiplier.
>>
>>334548437
>turnt
its a common understood word, like aint is also.
even know they aren't correct terms in formal english.

>>334548415
>I always heard about the permadeath
im sure it is different now, but it was the likes of that even with the game off it worked on the internal clock, so characters got hungry, went missing etc and if you didnt turn it back on feed them or find them it can mean perma death especially demoralizing on the chars you have invested time into developing.

I assume they still have perma death in the game now, if you get killed by zmbies while playing, it was a big part of the survival feel. just that offline crap was a disappointment.
>>
>>334549157
>its a common understood word,
No it fucking well is not. What hole in the ground did you grow up in?
>>
>>334547163
Poor base and survivor management systems.
Over-reliance on finisher animations (it gets old fast).
When zombies lunge/leap at you, they home in at hit you unless you hit the dodge button.
Zombies phase through walls.
Too much of the map is covered in emptiness.
Not enough difference between different calibers of guns.
Game "plays" itself while off, losing you resources and possibly survivors.
"Special" infected archetypes. (big high hp zombie, fast animal-like zombie, exploding zombie, screaming zombie)
Cars overpowered.
Generic supply loot. "Food" "Ammo" "Materials".

Other than those things, yeah it ain't bad.
>>
Does Undead Labs still exist?
>>
So i never played any of State of Decay, so how should i start?
>>
>>334549157
The permadeath feature before and after the patching always depended on how well your base was doing before you turn off the game. If you were low on medicine they would get sick and die, if you didn't have a watchtower build a feral would break in and kill. Its actually way more gentle on you now then it used to be but will still fuck you up if you didn't plan accordingly.
>>
>>334549247
well maybe not the part of the world where you come from im sure if you use google and type in turnt a definition would come up for you.
same as if you typed aint, wudda, ok, ya atta, thatta..
common words, non formal english
>>
>>334549395
listen to babymetal instead.

then start
>>
>>334549521
i am not into quirky japanese girls and hairy dudes
>>
>>334549395
If PC you have to get YOSE since they took the first version off Steam. If console then same as above because they stopped supporting the old game about 2 years ago.
>>
When I played the original on PC it had this crazy brownish filter over it. I couldn't look at it without my eyes hurting.
>>
>>334549480
>wudda, ok, ya atta, thatta
That's fucking klingon.
And any time a definition comes from the Urban Dictionary, you can be sure that it's not a "common word"
I would hate to read your text messages, they must be wholly made up of meme terms and teen speak.
>>
>>334549435
>shit happens while not playing

why do video games feel the need to do this
>>
>>334549596
hairy dudes? m8 if you are talking about copycats ladybaby, which has nothing to do with bm, i swear on me mum.
>>
>>334549480
Wudda? Thatta?
>>
>>334547163
>but it does some cool stuff I've wanted in a zombie survival game.

What do you mean?
>>
>>334549435
i remember it being quite brutal though, I got it day one on the 360 and they patched it a little the following week, loads of people were on the forums complaining.
I lost loads of guys. I think I just did something like gave all the food to the specific guys I wanted insted of putting it in storage so at least they would survive.

as I said I haven't played it since then.
great game for what it was and it was a kind of cheap indy game too
>>
>>334549521
I liked that song Karate. I think it's one of their newer tracks? I plan on looking into them tomorrow. If they turn out to be shit, I'm blaming you.
I like cute things.
>>
>>334549846
Makes it feel more "real" in the sense. It only really happened if you didn't prep for it but it still happens from time to time. My only real problem is how the world works in that where ever you are the zombies are not that far away because they only spawn in your relative area. Shoot off a 45. revolver in the middle of an empty field just to watch ferals spawn outta thin air.
>>
>>334549758
so you never heard the term "atta boy" or "thatta boy" meaning.... (some amerifag term)
or the word okey or non-abbreviation of a non existent word "O.K", or wudda as in "I wudda done that"
it is called informal english, read a fucking novel or play a computer game or better yet a dictionary.

turnt is an informal word for turn in the past tense turned is the correct term
>>
>>334549914
I got it about 2 years after it was originally released but from what I heard it was pretty damn punishing on the player:
>people go missing and die
>suicides
>losing months worth of snacks and pills in a few days of non playing
>couldn't stock up on ammo because the supply locker would make it disappear if not bundled into the back of trucks
Just to name a few.
>>
>>334549860
wudda- would have
thatta- that is a
>>
>>334548906
It ain't that hard in the beginning.
But oh boy, then you reach the breakdown levels where literally every zombie runs after you and every other has body armor and helmet
>>
>>334550430
yeah that is the one, a few hoyrs not playing and your base was in disrepute and most survivors missing.
was a kind of a shock. but also gave you something to work towards. otherwise the main story was short and it was just looting to survive until the story ends.
>>
>>334550616
Pretty much thats why they emphasized on the avoidance of conflict instead of actively looking for it. Sucked to lose a fav survivor to feral rape after some 20 levels into Breakdown. Doesn't matter how many molotovs you have because they just keep spawning.

>"atta boy" or "thatta boy"
That a boy.

>OK
That one was just lumped into the quote.

>wudda
Would have.

>turnt is an informal word for turn in the past tense
>turned is the correct term
Then just write 'turned'!

Informal English in a narrative is all well and good, but not in conversation. It's lazy and makes you sound like some backward facing baseball cap wearing teenage child. You're not some medieval hut dweller, well you may be but that would be presumptuous of me, so don't try and tell me informal English is acceptable because you've seen it in books or heard it in games.

Speak like a person, it will do wonders for you, I promise.
>>
>>334547163
It's fun until the moment you figure out how shallow the mechanics are. For me it was 4-5 hours in.
>>
>>334550890
'Avoidance of conflict' doesn't really work when there's those huge-ass groups of zombies everywhere on later levels. But thankfully those things can be toned down by modding.
All in all fun game to play sometimes, but it needs polish.
>>
all i remember was that is was suppose to be a zombie mmo and was turned into a sp game for some reason.
>>
>>334550132
Good on you f4m. If you like cute, then definitely search out their early interviews. Most of their western interviews are still a bit cringey. Also, if you want to dig deeper into their origin and cute Sakura Gakuin

I literally flew on a plane the first time ever by myself at the last minute to NYC just to watch them perform on Late Night with Stephen Colbert 2 weeks ago. There were 3 guys from Japan in line by 6am. Crazy stuff.
>>
>>334551018
Dudes got a point. There's too much swag talk in the gaming scene already
>>
>>334551229
See, now I'm gonna be all sad nd shit if you've overhyped them.
>>
>>334547163
Good idea ruined by its persistent world part
>>
>>334551018
well I do speak like a person, im english and my everyday english is often how I converse on the interwebs

turnt is an everyday term, speaking on gaybook or to friends in emails, texts etc they would understand, just as many of the other informal words I mentioned for examples.
maybe you are a grammar nazi or from zimbabwe or something.

coulda
woulda
shoulda
all acceptable terms in everyday english, though they do look strange typed out rather than said.
>>
>>334547163
I was enjoying it in the beginning but then i hated it and uninstalled because I wasn't having fun.
>>
>>334551168
>for some reason
Being a small studio and developing for 360 forced them to scale it back quite a bit.
>>
>>334551315
Just watch their MVs and if you're still interested search for proshots of their live shows(In one of them the lead singer gets crucified and it's done very well). That's where they truly shine. Then look for interviews. The younger the better. They played a lot more into the goofiness early on and they acted a lot more freely. They've become a lot more serious since then but not too serious. I just think they're less comfortable in western interviews. The Japanese ones are almost always way better.
>>
>>334551485
I can understand people getting confused if English isn't their first language. A native speaker shouldn't have any trouble
