Megaman X or Classic Megaman

Which series does /v/ enjoy more?
Which character does /v/ like more?
>>
>>334543859
I like the X games more.

although I think OG Megaman is better than X himself
and OG Zero > both (MMZ Zero looks so retarded)
>>
Classic is more consistent in quality; X jumps all over the place.
>>
X for the gameplay
Classic for the enemies

Seriously, MMX is good as it can be but fuck if i can name the Maverick's names besides the OG 8 from MMX1

I've only played the first 3 from both series and I definitely like X more. I've heard X trails off in quality though (X7 being notably the worst).

I want classic Rock as a cute maid that I occasionally dress up.
>>
>>334543859
Wouldn't be cool if one was without the other. Especially when the X series revolves around the connection between the two series for the majority. For game play itself it's hard to decide when each series is structured entirely around their respective Mega Mans move set and control. But personally I would choose X specifically X1, X4, and X5.

Battle Network.

I prefer classic Megaman overall.

Mega Man X was a great game. It's hard to really say that any of the classic games were really better. Unfortunately, none of the rest of the X series really lived up to its originality, and anything I could find in X, I can find in the Zero series or ZX. Classic, on the other hand, still offers a good challenge and still has some impressive design decisions, throughout multiple games. There's a better challenge there, too. If I sat down to play through each series, I would have more fun with the classic series than I would with the X series.
>>
Zerofag here
More control, more move, more everything.
>>
>>334543859
I like the X games more, for some reason I'm way better at them then the classic ones.

But classic Megaman is cutest robutt.
>>
Classic has more quality games
X has a ton of QUALITY games or they're just mediocre
>>
>>334545737
>more everything
Not screen space. Have fun replaying the same level over and over to get the level down. Oh, you died during the level? There goes your S rank, You aren't getting rewarded shit for doing this level now.

Zero wasn't a bad series but it had some really questionable design imo, not to mention It made Zero's personality objectively shit.
>>
>>334544919
I'm surprised I've never seen jojo fanart of that guy
>>
>>334546157
The personality is pretty similar to the X1-X5 counterpart and actually has pretty good lines. Z4's final boss speech comes to mind.
>>
>>334543859
Overall, I think I like the X series more, and I like X as a character, but there's something about the original Mega Man that's still intensely charming to me.

X series, but the problem is that the series has crap games like X5 or X8, and abortions like X6 and X7.

I prefer X1 and X2 waaay more than any classic Megaman.
>>
>>334543859
A year or two I played through all of the classic and X games in release order (since before that I really only played 2, x/x2/x3/x4).

Classic megaman was ruined by the charge shot. It adds a new element to the game where you're always (99% of the time, at least) at a disadvantage by not holding down the charge button as you go through a level. It really changed the feel of the game for me (for the worse). Sliding was fine; I can do with or without.

X games' dash and wall jump are absolutely great. Charging boss abilities for more powerful, new versions is also great. The charging mechanic is natively a part of this series and to be honest, X was probably my first megaman game ever so it felt natural in this series.

Megaman 5 felt waaaayy ahead of it's time. 6 imo should/could have been an SNES game with only some minor stuff added/polished. Best classic megaman is either 2 or 3. 1 is just so... It feels like playing DMC1 after DMC3. It's still good, just can't shake it feeling like a work in progress version of the later one.

Best X megaman game is... really up for debate, I think. The boost in budget is very apparent going from X to X2. X4 was great but it had such a different feel (hard rock / heavy metal pixel comfiness to sleek, cold future graphics and electronic music). X3 is of course also great for everything crammed into it.

I think the best overall though may just be X1 as far as experience goes.
>>
>>334543859
i played most of the games from both series when i was younger, and had one game for gba. i played x1 recently, then a few classic games, then tried a few more x games.

i didn't really enjoy the classic games much. the bosses are either overly challenging if you don't have the weapon they're weak against, or they're a pushover if you do. some parts of the levels were unfair unless you found an item from another level, like getting the platform weapon for bomb man's stage. the classic games feel "cheap" in some ways.

i didn't really like x games after x1 either though, the maverick hunters in x2 just seem like a gimmick to make you play longer.

they're all playable and not bad, just mediocre at worst but i think x1 is the best game and was pretty much perfected with this one.
>>
>tfw can't decide if I like the MMX1-5 or MMZ1-4 the most because both are fucking good in their own ways

Even ZX had some good ideas (new armors with different techs instead of recolors or different buster patterns). Model HX was a delight.

Honestly they could do something like this and it would be 10/10
>MMZ controls
>MMX1 level design and screen space
>multiple armors like ZX
>ride armors

Kinda feels like MMZ(X) should have bigger screen and go back to the MMX stage select style. And fuck rankings to get rewards.

Classic because I like little boys

>The boost in budget is very apparent going from X to X2

Except for the bizarre choice at the end to flat-out reuse Magna Centipedes stage for Sigma.

It's the profoundly negative, glass-mostly-empty attitude of people like you that create this overall negative bandwagon that spreads hateful connotations to perfectly enjoyable, playable experiences. X5 and X8 weren't crap by any means. X6 isn't anywhere near as bad as people make it out to be, but people usually cite level design as a the main offender. I didn't think it was so bad. Were these games perfect down to the last detail? No. Blame Capcom and their ludicrous deadlines. That brings us to X7, which is a primary subject to their strict deadline treatment. The team that created the game was very small and they were strapped for time. If you consider the challenges of the game's production, a lot of the shortcomings are forgivable and easy overlooked in any case. Are the flaws apparent? Sure, I can't deny that, but I, as a diehard Mega Man fan, focused on the good each game had to offer. Each one has a special place in my heart. I appreciated the effort put forth to bring me and other fans like me more of the franchise we love.

>>334548905
To be fair, They show the X-hunters gathered in a room in Centipede's stage throughout the game so it can be considered some sort of foreshadowing. But yeah, it was pretty weird that they re-used the intro stage theme too.
>>334549000
I'm convinced that most people who hate X6 haven't actually played it. I'm convinced that most of these people heard some E-celeb rant about it or they watched a let's play and they took it as fact.

X6 has some abysmal moments, no doubt (don't get me started on Heatnix's stage) and the story is ridicilous, but it's nowhere near as bad as the internet makes it out to be.

One shitty moment is enough to ruin a game, especially if the rest of that game is just mediocre. And Heatnix's stage is a shitty moment that doesn't fucking end.

>>
>>334551606
I like X6 but I can think of more than 2
>donuts
>Infinity Mijinion boss
>Gate stage 2 is impossible with unarmored X without exploits
>Nightmare Mother
>Black Zero was supposed to be unlocked w/o a code and still can with gameshark codes. You were supposed to fight Zero at level 4 but getting him to level 4 requires unlocking the Gate stages, which makes you unable to fight Zero

I meant in a whole-game sense.
Black Zero is one of them, the other one is Nightmares being way too sturdy (I don't play on Xtreme for this reason alone, they make 2/3 of all enemies in a stage and take forever to kill)
>>
X for gameplay, classic for the characters.
>>
High Tier
>SNES X series
>Zero series

Mid Tier
>Classic series
>PS1 X series
>ZX series

Low Tier
>PS2 X series
>>
>>334552132
That's weird. Everyone at least remembers Metal Shark Player's stage.

Unless if you forgot about that stage as a defense mechanism in which case I'm sorry.
I think it was a well-designed stage tho
>>334552530
Now Imagine trying to play that stage as unarmored X. With no nova strike or screen nuking attacks.
>>334553948
X8 was pretty good desu. Also, I don't know if you would add maverick hunter X in the ps2 era.
>>
>>334554130
>Also, I don't know if you would add maverick hunter X in the ps2 era.
I just remembered this exists. Thanks a lot, that remake was good.

Probably High Tier material too, but I do feel like SNES X series and Zero series play better.

>>334543859

Classic 1-6
>>
>>334543859

Really hard for me to decide now.

If you had asked me 15 years ago I would have said X series without blinking but I've been going back and playing the classics and damn they're great games.

I just love them all so much. It still pains me that the franchise is dead.
