EA could learn a thing or two from them. Why release your game when you can make far more by selling content for vaporware.

I'm not Derek and I don't know Derek, but I assume he's from Giant Bomb. Even if the game is real, even if it will be out before 2100, even if it will be actually good, it would still be a scam of the decade at the very least: selling virtual ships for thousands of dollars without even being able to use them. This is beyond Wargaming that sell tanks for the price of AAA game, this is beyond Chinese pre-order scams that sell exclusive weapons, this is even beyond Entropia Universe sales. Absolutely fantastic idea, brilliant marketing execution and PR.

That's the point, they didn't force shit, yet they have over $100 mil. Do you even understand how many drones he have created based on absolutely nothing, but promises? The game had over 50 mil before even hangar was released. Someone at RSI is a pure genius.

I'm not amazed at the game or the quality of it, I really don't care if it will be out or not. I'm amazed at the fact that he sells VIRTUAL SHIPS for real money. VIRTUAL SHIPS that you CANNOT EVEN USE for millions of dollars. There's nothing new in selling virtual items in MMOs, but at the very least they are priced so hard because of exclusivity/usability in game. Virtual estates for thousands of dollars? Sure, your virtual avatar can stand in it. Epic gear? You can equip it. You can't do shit with most of the ships in Star Citizen though. And the ones that are usable are not even exclusive to you. You, allegedly, can get them just by playing the game. You think Apple is overpriced? This is the true meaning of overpriced. And that's not even the brilliance of it. How many estates can you sell for thousands of dollars? Probably not many. While Roberts gained over 100 in US fucking dollars just on the ships, some of which didn't even have models when they were sold. Shit is absolutely mental.

This keeps happening. The Chris Roberts of flight sims (Ilya "Luthier" Shevchenko) kickstarted DCS WW2 and the exact same thing happened. DCS happened because they didn't have enough money to develop what was promised. All signs point to Star Citizen launching with what is promised, maybe a couple systems missing but those can be patched in.

>>
>>334535760
>Am I supposed to condemn him for that
No, as I've said in my first post the dude is making history. Shit is still a scam though, purely because virtual ships that you, allegedly, can easily acquire in game should never cost that much.
>>
>>334535716
What are the $5000 ships? The most expensive one is the engineering ship at $375 unless you're talking about capital ships that are owned by the Goons and shit.

You really think a personal ship should be as powerful as a capital ship? You're comparing a tie fighter to a star destroyer.
>>
>>334535885
Whatever, I'll let the whales take the hit for the sake of giving me a better game. I'm happy with that business model.
>>
>>334535760
Eagle Dynamics has more than enough money to develop DCS WW2. They still are developing it.
Stinking Russians pretended Eagle Dynamics was part of the kickstarter so people would back it, but when the kickstarter only netted $150.000 they let Ilya's company go bankrupt and then denied all involvement in the project so they could take over the assets and employees without having to give the backers what they were promised.
It's a pretty obvious scam, but nobody is suing because suing Russians is pointless.

It's clear you're an armchair game designer. It's a modular design showcasing the core mechanics at play, and so far they've shown dynamic multiplayer, persistence, seamless transitions to different sectors of the universe, multiple gravity settings in the same structure, on foot gameplay with simulated EVA physics, seamless planet to space transitions, not to mention the flight model which also has multicrew.

I might be off on my Star Wars lore, but I'm pretty sure that the tie fighter are generally inferior to the alliance fighters (x-wing, a-wing) because the empire bought the cheapest fighter possible because they don't value the life of their pilots. Its just switch between a ragdoll being driven by a jet back and the base model running around like normal.

When you are floating, you have controls and stuff to do a barrel roll, move up/down, etc. When you are on a platform you have normal FPS controls.

The video is just showing off how you can switch between these modes seamlessly.
