Kids actually come with an offspring seal after chapter 18 which levels them based on the chapter you're on. Like chapter 27 I think brings them to level 18 promoted or something and the stats are based on averages. What kids under performed for you? Velouria and Ophelia can be very good units. If their moms are Camilla and Elise, respectively, then they should turn out well. Velouria will frequently double hit, can tank hits, and deals 40% of max HP damage to units when she attacks because of Savage Blow and Grisly Wound. She also recovers 40% of her HP on odd-numbered turns. Ophelia with Elise as her mom will have access to Strategist, good heals, will double hit a lot of enemies, and can have 30-40% crit chance with Mjolnir when she has 3 or more tombs.

He's useful early on when the only other Nosferatu user is Nyx who has no skill and no luck. Just make sure to quickly build up support with Elise or Nyx on him and he can be a real nice early game wall. Also save up Mozu's join chapter for after chapter 8 to help him level up a bit along with Arthur (just so you can get Gamble and then remove it before a chapter where it can harm you like Chapter 10 for instance) and Niles.
I don't think he's worth promoting really but he can be useful right out the gate if you know how to fix his mag. If you do it's debatable whether you want to go Dark Knight or Sorceror or re-class to Samurai.
His growths are actually really good with exception to his lowish speed/res and he makes a good parent for Kana as a result along with Leo. Both Forrest and Ophelia appreciate Kamui as the father since it allows them to have actual durability and take great advantage of the dragonstones and tomes offered by the Nohrian Princess/Noble class as a result.

I'm iffy on which units should be immediately recruited or not of the children.
Ophelia (odin's kid) and Nina (nile's kid) should be asap just for all the godly shit they give you on their recruitment stage but having gotten a ton of the kids early I feel safe saying you can hold off on a number till at least chapter 18 just so they come with the special seal so they can instant promote and level up to catch up with the rest of your army. At least in Nohr just cause you get limited resources so you can't just promote everyone so it makes sense to hold off just so you can get as many units promoted as possible.
Also the bosses you can get from the paralogues can be really good like Senno for example from Ophelia's recruitment is an Apothecary with 3 different skills pre learned etc etc. Gazak and Zhara are other good ones as well.

HP or Defense Build (with luck as bane) runs it can be pretty devestating. It's a 14 Might weapon that gives you +4 defense and +3 res making it a really powerful early game nuke. Giving Kamui any sort of Sorceror with S rank as a pairup can be pretty devastating just cause Kamui can one hit kill a lot of enemies then.

Velouria is almost always good, regardless of her mom. I would personally recommend Mozu, just to pass down the Villager class, and one Archer skill of your choice.
Ophilia will often become your best mage, and has a monstrous crit chance. Elise is a good mom for her, if just for the Magic buff.
Nina can end up being decent, depending on how you build her. Her strength is a bit low, but with Nyx as a mom she can really abuse magic weapons in the Adventurer class.
Siegbert, with Charlotte as a mother, also ends up being really good, although he's typically outclassed by his father.
Kana can be a really good dragonstone abuser, depending on who her mom is.

Ive taken Beruka from level 10 Rider to level 5 Wyvern Lord during the Eternal Steps chapter. Just buy all the important stat tonics like HP, Def (or Res or both depending on mission), Atk/Mag, and Skl and use them on that character before a mission, and carry their ass hard with weapons like Niles' Bow, and bronze/brass weapons. Make sure the carried unit is fighting in attack stance, and its probably best they use ranged. Hopefully you've got great tanks and/or good sustaining talents and aren't retarded at positioning.

Pairing them up won't get much XP, what you do is put them with a dual strike next to someone who can deal damage. eg Corrin with a Brave Sword.
They do 0 damage, he does 23x2, they get full XP.
