Being Nagaraja must really suck even compared to other vampires. As if luring people and feeding from them with risk of killing them if you lose control over yourself wasn't bad enough, Nagaraja also have to eat the flesh which basically means they have to kill in order to feed.
>>
>>334452385
yeah. Its real handy having a living trash compactor you can brainwash people into feeding themselves to
>>
>>334453876

Plus side is they don't lose themselves when feeding. Lore-wise a lot of them use their magic to preserve already dead bodies for consumption, the whole thing is very utilitarian really.

You end up in a cement block at the bottom of the ocean. Kue-jin are not vampires and don't give a fuck.
>>
>>334453876
Rarer vampires, particularly within the sabbat and the more esoteric independant clans are capable of abandoning humanity entirely in favor of 'paths', which tend to amount to some obsessive ideal they must obey, its own laws replacing traditional moraily. (So there are still things that need to be adhered to, but basically is what allows freaky old sabbat to eat babies and not permafrenzy).

The more a mage knows about you, the easier it is for them to use magic on you from anywhere. Mages can fuck with reality. In one of the books there is a picture of a mage turning corn kernels into bees.

Likewise, with demon stuff knowing a demons true name gives you power over them... truth be told I dont really know if the name knowing gives demons any power over mortals, but it seemed like a good idea at the time.

>>
>>334454573
Basically. Or if you just find the act abhorrent.

Amusingly you can actually use her to preserve the masquerade (at the cost of humanity). The annoying ghoul who hangs out at club confession and begins to threaten to break the masquerade can be instructed to go to the hospital basement if youve already met pisha. Returning to the basement later will have pisha bewildered, this being the first time shes ever had a meal 'delivered'.

main tip is the game has A LOT of sidequests which help you, either just from the XP, or by making allies you can use to circumvent problems in other quests, or from items they give you which just plain power you up.

and time doesn't pass until you travel to a different level, so its almost always worth sniffing around for any extra sidequests before leaving to do your actual job.

Time doesn't seem to pass at all. The whole thing could take place in a single night, Santa Claus style

Would've been interesting to have seen a day/night mechanic where you have to avoid sunlight or have your ghoul do errands during the day, but I suppose that would've been similar to the Nos route of using the sewers all the time.

I really only know of Bloodlines, but I always hear conflicting things about Masquerade and sexuality. Some threads say vampires don't give two fucks because feedings feel better than a triple orgasm and so sex or sexuality don't play a factor, but then there are posts like yours.
>>
>>334457327
I'm not really talking about that as much as franchise as a whole isn't your typical treat sexuality with kid gloves or anything. It's part of humanity so it gets explored as well. Just because vampires don't really get any thrills from it by default doesn't meant they avoid using it to their advantage whenever they can and shit.
>>
>>334457327
It's pretty simple. Vampires don't get much pleasure out of sex, but they can still have it. And you can't have a vampire game without the element of sexy vampire seduction, so the tabletop game has ample opportunities for you to indulge in that particular aspect of vampire culture (though noting that in the setting, sex is still viewed as pointless diversion at best and disgusting at worst).

Even if they don't get off on sex, vampires are still intensely sexual creatures. The first vampire novel was about a lesbian vampire.

Please understand that VtM's audience has pretty much always been loser goth girls wanting to act their fantasies.
>>
Is VtmB very linear?
>>
>>334457856
rather than a railroad, its more like a series of parks arranged in a line
>>
>>334457856
Yeah, I'd guess I'd say so. You can't just straight up go to LA or Hollywood or Chinatown, you have to do the main story.

There's still a good degree of exploration and stuff though.
>>
>>334457856
yeah
>>
>>334457723
Oh yeah, that makes sense. I also forget there's more going on than just vampires.

>>334457805
I see. Thanks, anon.
>>
>>334457856
It's linear in the GTA sense that you can just fuck around doing sidequests but sooner or later you'll need to do the main quest line that advances the plot.

You do have a surprising amount of flexibility in terms of how you do a lot of the quests though, through stealth, charming your way past people or just straight up violence. That said, the closer you get to the end of the game, the less you can talk your way out of battles.

Ancient evil spirits looking to control and subdue the Kue-jin. It's kinda long winded, but you need to understand that Kuei-jin are not vampires. They're merely classified as such by ignorant white devils and for mechanical convenience. They're more like spirits riding their dead bodies and aren't really made through embrace or anything, they simply come to exist for certain reasons.

>>334458548
Yama Kings were essentially entities created by the "August Personage of Jade" (God) to watch over the underworld. Part of their job was to punish the dead and extract their chi. This is actually what many Chinese Buddhists believe happens in the afterlife.

The Yama Kings became corrupt and started harvesting their chi with even more horrible torture methods, and the August Personage of Jade turned his back on them.

They essentially carved out a chunk of the Chinese afterlife so they could harvest chi from the dead Chinese.

Kuei-Jin are dead Chinese who have managed to escape these Ten Thousand Hells.

The Demon Emperor is the title of the most powerful and worst Yama King, who will only appear at the end of days. All Yama Kings are aspiring to be him.

The Yama Kings are pretty neat. There is one that is a Japanese man with cyborg hands whose Hell is a cyberpunk dystopia of constant suffering because the city is designed to be specifically out of feng shui, disrupting harmony at every turn.

It's complicated and ambiguous lore stuff, but either the Ravnos antediluvian or one of his childer became one of the Yama Kings.

Fill it with sweatshop workers and harried salarymen whose job is to painfully extract chi from other workers, constantly monitored by omnipresent cameras and hunted down by cyborgs if they try to escape. All people in this wicked city are connected to a network that allows for constant surveillance as well as continuous pumping of excruciating sensory data.

Kuei-Jin is a combination of both Chinese and Japanese terminology. Kuei is Chinese for ghost and Jin is Japanese for person.

It's heavily Chinese because China came first, so of course their Hells are more prominent. Don't worry, Japan has their own hells.

Wouldn't a really old bloodsucker not give a fuck about science? iirc they don't really like shit unless it's from their era. So a vamp who shits on the side of his wall will hold the bathroom in disdain, someone who was embraced during a time where scrolls were still used wouldn't exactly like touching e-books or computers or newspapers etc.I could be wrong though.

The show True Blood does this.

>it would be interesting to see how a vampire setting dealt with this and other modern advancements

WW actually released rules for playing a cyberpunk World of Darkness game.

yeah, damsel mentions old vampires still using candles instead of light bulbs but some of them might embrace it heh because it would prevent masquerade violations or problems with people disappearing, frenzying, etc.

intredasting, although i find most vampire stuff corny except for the movie blade, i forgot they had a serum in the movie though so he didn't have to feed on people. i think that movie is the film equivalent to vtmb, it's pretty good. the sequels are dreadful though.

The movie equivalent of VtM is Underworld. Not in terms of quality, but in terms of how much they ripped it off.

Underworld was released before VtmB, what now?

the PnP predates the movie by a solid decade

The wording was a bit ambigious. If that post meant that Underworld did the ripping off, then I agree.
