This, from Shantae and the Pirate's Curse, actually.

For those who didn't catch on, it is implied the Warrior in the Village of Lost Souls is in fact, Shantae's long lost human father searching for his daughter (though he has long since forgotten much about her) Neither Shantae nor the Warrior realize who the other one is.

An unexpected, delicately touching moment.

it's also heavily implied he is, in fact, video game character Karnov

Also a family member died. Something actually happened to him - that person actually existed and no longer exists.

Did he weep when he went to plays? Was that a common thing for him to do?

Can someone explain how it feels to cry at vidya or other media? I've never had the experience.
I assume it's because of relating to what happens on it but I don't know.

Also, how does it feel? Could you compare it to crying at a real life event or is it different?

Mainly it's that you have to give some form of realness to the characters, if you can't get immersed in a game it's never gonna happen
And no it's nowhere quite as severe as something like someone in real life dying, it just gets you pretty bummed
>>
>>334438067

Ironic that you mention being unable to tell fantasy from reality since that's what most of these blubbering manbabies have trouble with.

That's the part I was missing. I did feel bad one or two times but that's it, never went as close as crying, never could detach from the fact that I'm playing a game.

Thanks for sharing anon.

A lot of people assume it comes down to just empathy, but really it's more experience.
If you have not or cannot imagine experiencing something you're not likely to react to it.

There are scenes in movies where even a side character begins going through or saying something others can relate to in the audience and it will evoke emotion. For example Paulie in Rocky has a scene where he begins degrading himself clearly recognizing his flaws as a person, brother and friend. He's hinting to Rocky, but can't say it because it's the last shred of pride and dignity he has left, that he's aware the only good thing he could possibly do for his sister Adrian is get them paired up so Rocky can take care of her in ways he failed to and obviously can't.

If you're never felt like you can't protect someone close to you, or generally don't have anyone close to you that you feel like protecting, then a familiar feeling of impotency won't wash over you seeing this guy ridicule himself. You'll just think he's a loser and that Rocky's picking up his slack.

A similar thing happens in Gran Torino when a girl is raped and everyone, particularly her brother who had been trying to develop some character and self-confidence, feels like they're helpless. Again if you don't have any familiarity with feelings of inadequacy due to a lack of accomplishment or capability or respect then the entire ordeal is just a series of events. It has nothing to do with being real either, someone who has missing relatives can watch a movie or hear in the news about similar kidnappings and become equally emotionally responsive. If all your family is where they are then it's whatever isn't it?

Also don't misunderstand having an experience for having experience. If someone has dead relatives it's not just that fact but whether they gave a shit about them that will determine their reaction to hearing other cases of losing family.

Further the age demographic of the content is irrelevant. The movie Speed Racer is almost insultingly simple with its messages throughout however the finale manages to deliver quite a potent scene if you have any ability to reflect and comprehend at all.

I've never raced in my life, my interest in racing has been sporadic and minimal. I watch Top Gear here and there but otherwise the sport itself is not for me. However this movie in a way isn't just about racing despite that being the central theme. That and comically organized crime having an iron grip over competitive sports, but aside from those things it's also about admitting you don't remember, know or even understand what it is that fuels you to keep doing what you do in life, just that you only feel alive when you do it.
It's about not being stopped by defeat or doubt, or rules and restraints, it's about believing in yourself and possibilities when others do not.
It's about recognizing your idols, rivals and enemies were and still are as lost and human as you despite how they seem from afar.
It's about being broken and yet that allowing you to exceed past limitations. It's about the people and things there for you when nothing and no one else is.
It's about having the vision to see what others are blind to and showing people things they could never imagine with their narrow view.

Whatever you position or passion it's about ambition.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DvwhIStnDw8

It's also about 3 minutes of nausea inducing color and confusing choreography met with a financial loss, but behind those rudimentary things people get easily distracted by the message is still visible on Blu-rayâ„¢ and DVDâ„¢ for home theater.

Not specifically a scene but

>A bit over a year ago

>Was walking home from class listening to Amazing Grace from the track cause it was neat
>A day prior learn my grandfather was in the hospital, but was pretty much a vegetable after being revived by machinery

>Get phone call at around 3:32
>It's my father

>"We pulled the plug. Your grandfather is gone."
>Begin tearing up
>Funeral a few days later
>They play amazing grace as they walk him out of the church
>Am told it was his favorite song

I know that feeling, I was with a guild from 2004 all the way to the end of WOTLK sometime in 2010, the guild leader announced that he was just done, and will be leaving, we all agreed to just let the guild die, we all did one final raid, cried our eyes out over Vent, took one last guild photo together, and all parted ways...

I still talk to a few of them, but it's not the same, so many of them quit once the guild broke apart.

Yep, I had a big group of friends I used to play Steam games with that I met on WoW, we played together from TBC all the way to the end of Cata, we all met up multiple times, went to PAX together, and we even all went to Blizzcon one year, when MoP came out and everyone but me and one other person quit, our group just kind of fell apart...

Stopped getting into vent...
Stopped playing Steam games...
Stopped the group texts...

Haven't spoken to any of them in years, I think it was WoW that kept us all together...or something.
