The Map creator hates normal Minecraft underground gen, so he made Ores insanely rare outside their "realistic" regions.
So literally an area rich in coal will not have much else, whereas a Diamond area similar to Africa will not have much else.The only way to reliably gear is Villagers via hoarding and fixing Zombie Villagers with Blaze Rods from the Hell Islands and such for potions and being in "Africa" areas for Golden Apples.And Oak Trees for Apples.
I'm also not sure if there's any Spawners on the map.
