Hi /v/. I'm looking for some non-violent video games. No

Hi /v/. I'm looking for some non-violent video games. No FPS, no stabbing, no shooting. Portal 2 was fantastic.

Pikmin 1, 2 or 3.

Though I assume you own no nintendo consoles, if you're even asking this game in the first place.

Are there any critically-acclaimed games with top notch graphics that aren't FPS or shooting/killing games?

IIRC you don't necessarily have to kill anyone in Beneath a Steel Sky, not completely sure though.
Or you could play TIS-100 but it's hardly a game.

The reason I ask it because my younger brother was the victim of quite a violent attack, in which video games were directly related. I'd like to buy him a game which is not violent.

Animal crossing comes to mind straight away. Any puzzle game pretty much would be good too, super monkey ball would be an example of something a bit different or there was that Tetris-like one in the 3ds store where you have to fit blocks through holes (I don't know many more recent puzzle games that aren't free to play). Grow home was one I enjoyed recently but it's pretty short.

Plants vs Zombies? I mean, there is shooting and stuff, but it's so comical it shouldn't be a problem.

Myst is pretty neat. Talos Principle is some of the best and I guess you could give Stanley Parable a shot if you still want more.
There's this old arcade game about putting coins together, lots of fun with friends. Don't remember the name, sadly.
>>
>>334418536
Portal 2 is first person and had shooting you hypocrite. It's an FPS you're a fucking monster.

More seriously, are you sure you mean "NO VIOLENCE"? Like Mario violence is okay? How about legend of Zelda violence? Fire emblem violence? Even portal 2 had SOME violence. Being more specific would help.

Depends on how non-violent you want.

A lot of stealth games have the option to play non-lethally and in fact reward you for it. The first three Splinter Cell games allow and sometimes mandate no fatalities (though there are still a few times where you have to kill targets). Metal Gear Solid 2 and onwards encourage you to finish the story without killing anyone.

Mirror's Edge is about doing parkour and evading enemies. You can pick up a gun and shoot at them but it's pointless and discouraged.

Lot's of RPG's are technically completable without combat through speech, though you may still find yourself attacked by animals and monsters and whatnot.

As far as truly lacking in depictions of violence there's sports games, racing games, and puzzle games. As well as quirky stuff like Animal Crossing and Katamari Damacy
>>
Any puzzle series like Tetris, Puyo Puyo, etc.
>>
>>334418252

Depends on what you mean by "top-notch". Myst and Loom had good graphics for their time and were non-violent.
>>
I guess you could play KoL. It does have violence but most of it is puns and no violent actions whatsoever are shown visually.
>>
>>334419898

Right. I see. I know about racing sims like Gran Turismo .. and puzzle games are fun if the graphics are there like Portal 2. And sports games go without saying.

I'm interesting in the quirky stuff! I liked Rez, Portal, and I like the look of a game called No Man's Sky which is released soon.
