Actually, it's a very smart move by Blizzard, they know what their playerbase wants. The same people who would subscribe for Legacy WoW wouldn't buy expansion packs anyways, so it makes sense to make it. Saying it doesn't make sense to have legacy servers is retarded.

The thing is that there will still be people who will buy the expansions, who will keep playing the normal version of WoW, this is the thing you and so many others don't seem to understand.
Just like how there are people who still play the new Runescape AND the older version, if Blizzard were to release Legacy servers, there will still be people who will buy the modern version of WoW AND others who will play the older versions.
By my understanding, Runescapes servers are about a 50-50 split, the same would probably happen with WoW, which isn't an issue at all.
The only problem at this point is that it would hurt Blizzards pride, which doesn't make much sense, because it has literally nothing to with them, it's the players, some players prefer modern WoW, some prefer Vanilla, it has nothing to do with Blizzard and their "pride", just the personal preference of WoW players. It's incredibly childish of them if that really is a contributing factor of them not doing it.
The existence of a Legacy server wouldn't effect game sales substantially either. Most people who want Legacy servers are not playing WoW right now, the people who are playing WoW now, are people who don't want a Legacy server and are content with the way the game is now, maybe a very, very small percentage of people would make the switch, but it's a very small number of people.
Honestly, a Legacy server at this point is inevitable.

It's not one way or the other, both would happen. A very small percentage of current players would switch to Legacy, and a large crowd of people who don't play WoW/haven't played it in years, would come back to play Legacy, ultimately, all that would happen is MORE people playing WoW, which is what Blizzard wants right? More people, more money?
There is absolutely nothing Blizzard can do to bring those old players (who want a Legacy server) back to modern WoW, because to them, the game is flawed on a fundamental level, it's not WoW anymore. If the reason Blizzard won't make Legacy servers is because they want to keep attempting to change WoW in a way that brings those old players back, that is simply not possible, too much of the game is different to what those people want, it is a wasted effort.

I think because of Blizzard's attitude and their decisions we can see stretching back decades, they would only go back on their stance and make legacy servers if it would help them out of a financial slump. Guarantee they're all low. Interest in retail wow is fading fast. People sub for a bit, see what changes were made, and then bail. Interest in legacy servers is on the rise.
They've literally become gold sellers in order to hold onto their dwindling subs. Whatever your opinion on blizzard, retail, vanilla, etc, it's hard to deny the utter pureness of the original game.
