>Pitches for Gex closed May of last year
>No announcements from Square Enix
>Haven't allowed new pitches yet
What the fuck is going on? Why won't Square Enix come out and say if they've approved a pitch? An upcoming Fear Effect has already been announced so it's not like they're still evaluating the sent pitches.
He's dead JimWe don't need another Spyro on our hands
Ah the video game industry is turning into the Hollywood industry so quickly! Let's dig up old obscure shit and remake it for no reason what so ever, if they didn't like in the 1990s, they're sure to love it now.

What would Gex be about? Reddit memes?
>>334349371
He'd probably jump into computers now and have a shit load of memes. As much as I loved the original Gex games, I can't see them turning out well in this age.

Gex was never good.

>gex youtube level
>gex twitch level
Were these games even good?

It's all in the concept. Cool mascot, world hopping and based off TV.
First one was good for a 3DO game.
Of all the "mascot" 3D platformers, it's one of the worse off ones when it switched from 2D to 3D.
Bad controls, bad camera, average visuals and the biggest offense: Dana Gould quips that repeat over and over.
The biggest thing it had was charm, but compared to something like Spyro or Banjo, it was never iconic or worth looking at as a standard.
Another crack at Gex could end up being better than 2 and 3 just off of the standards that the ps2/xbox/gamecube era started defining for run-of-the-mill 3D platformers.

Hmm, I see. A reboot could work out
>>334352698
Yes
Gex 2 & 3 were pretty gud
>>334349469
They'd be as good now with memes as it was back then with TV pop culture. It's the same shit. The difference wouldn't be the game, it'd be in you. You'll be your dad rolling his eyes at the dumb kid's game this time.
They need to bring back the anime channel desu
I hope he comes back. I need more Tail Time in my life.
>>334352698
First gex only good gex
>>334354051
As long as Dana Gould is on board, if it's an indie 2D platformer with memes and no Gould I'm offing myself
>>334352698
They were pretty damn good.
Enter the Gecko is my personal favorite, but Gex is a pretty fucking fun 2D platformer.
gex was like the simpsons: a decidedly 90s character. he needs to stay there.
BUT
how about a sassy talking bearded dragon?
eh?we can get doug Stanhope or someone. I think it could work.

This must be one of the many rooms in Aaron Spelling's house!
I pity the people who played the N64 versios

Had Gex 1 and 3 for PS1, what did I miss?
I believe 2 had some differences between versions
Is he the sexiest vidya character ever?

MMMM SLIP OF THE TONGUE
>>334355443
Gex 1 was ported to PS1 from the other platforms, didn't exist on N64 so the only thing you missed was some unused easter egg shit in the 3DO version
Gex 3 had an entirely different Greek level in the N64 version taking place in Hell instead of Heaven, but was otherwise the same outside of butchering the FMVs and sound clips to ribbons for storage reasons, making camera controls worse, and making the textures worse, just like Gex 64 did for Enter the Gecko, but at least they had the decency to give Gex 64's exclusive level the exclusive theming for Titanic, even if the swimming controls are terrible
Please don't play the Game Boy games
>>334355443
The N64 version of 2 had bad textures, sound and draw distance, over 75% of the lines were cut, three missing levels (compensated by an exclusive level that's not great), poor camera control (Enter the Gecko has a mediocre camera, but it's somehow worse) and no cutscenes so you don't even know what the story is.
3 on the N64 has okay textures, sound and draw distance, the first two bonus levels are changed, Mythology Network is completely different, lines are cut but not much and the camera is worse than the PS1.
Basically, if you see anyone proclaim GEX was the only good game, they had an N64.

Thank goodness I never touched those versions then, I can't image how someone who played the N64 ones must've felt when the PS1 versions weren't exactly masterpieces even though they were enjoyable for what they were (Forgot to mention I played 2's demo)

Let's hope the art is great.
