The best thing about Sinnoh thought was ironically probably what people give gen 4 the most shit about: all the legendaries. Sinnoh was themed around old legends and it shows, with places like the lakes, Mt. Coronet, the temple in Snowpoint, Turnback Cave, and on and on. The presence of all this really made Sinnoh feel "alive", like it had actual tangible history.
I mean I guess you're entitled to your opinion but I just fuckin' love Sinnoh.

While I agree that that was the result, I personally like pokemon more when it's grounded in reality, part of the appeal of pokemon is how it's an jrpg that takes place in what is more-or-less the real world (not just that it's modern, but your character and their arc, while important, is just a small piece of a larger world), when you put too much magic and otherworldly stuff into the storyline, that aspect is diminished and it becomes a more typical jrpg.
