Fraps is great for recording but it records uncompressed so it uses a TON of disk space.
Use OBS if you're worried about space or you're recording extended amounts of gameplay.
I use Adobe Premiere CS6 because it's more versatile than Vegas, and has a LOT more support available.

I use ShadowPlay, but OBS is the least intensive one for recording other than that.
For editing, I use Premiere Pro. But depending on what you're doing, you could honestly get away with iMovie/Movie Maker.
