Not really. Each bullet lands exactly in the center of your crosshairs, since you can actually ADS, so if you're not a shitter then you can get reliable headshots from across the map on any weapon without memorizing the spread and hoping the bullet goes where you want it to go. Headshots are always a one-hit kill, even if you're using a pistol, too.

As you play, you get dosh, and spend the money to buy Operators, LoL style. There's 10 attackers and 10 defenders, though it'll be 11/11 in a few weeks. You only really need to buy ~4 total that you like, and about 1 hour of play is enough to unlock 2-4 operators. By the time you finish the tutorials you should have 3-5 of them in total.
You can also spend a pathetic amount of money on attachments like a foregrip (reduces recoil), sights and scopes, laser dots (improve hipfire recoil, but enemies can see the dot, and in some lighting situations barely see the laser, which leads to you getting fucked hardcore), and silencers (reduce range, reduce sound.)
After about 20 hours of playing you should have every operator you'll ever want, with every attachment you ever want. Unless 'economy-based' means something else, anyway.
(Note: You also get 'Recruits' for free, who can use any gun and any bit of equipment, but they can't get unique gadgets or attachments.)

What happens is every operative has 2-3 guns to choose from; It's usually a shotgun or an automatic, or two automatics. The attackers get breaching shotguns and assault rifles, while the defenders get CQB shotguns and submachine guns. Some of them get a semi-automatic rifle or a light machine gun, and one guy gets a marksman's rifle.
But no, no economy system.

It's one of those games where there's so many options of what you can do in any given situation that no two rounds feel the same, so you can go through 160 hours without running out of shit to do.
