That's weird

that's strange, I read it as "thank you for believing - sincere regret edition"
>>334307828
What really had should of just been a smart phone attachment.
“We are designing the controller to be a love letter to console gaming,” the developers write. “It will have everything you’ve learned to love: fast buttons, triggers, laser-precise analog sticks, a D-Pad – and it will have a touchpad for any games making the trek from mobile or tablet to the TV. It’ll be just the right weight. We are working with select developers to play-test the controller through development. We call it ‘the Stradivarius of controllers,’ and we hope developers will be inspired to take gameplay to a new level with it.”
Everything I know about Ouya is based on this video
https://youtu.be/3E2B_ktw_6w
I hate that I own this
>>334308337
God, the controller looks so fucking cheap
>>334307734
Only from the console-tan thread. Why would they base a console on hardware/software that aggressively gets updated every year? Even if they were going to make new versions, the subsidized phone you already have will be make it pointless.
>>334307734
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QY5yG2KyQfM
It'd still be nice to leave hooked on the TV for emulation and the like.
But I got a mini PC for $150 instead which does the same, I can even run some android games on it via emulation if I want to, and use a wireless DS3 with it
>>334308337
Wow, looks like a small cheap 360 clone, and that basically makes it a clone of a shit, not as good as shit itself.
>>334308558
Did you ever play games on it? Can you even buy games for it anymore?
>>334310238
Yes, and I only know that because back in January I used it for the twitch app during AGDQ and my friends and I decided to play some of the old games on it.
Also, I bought it through gamestop so I got a second controller, and what nobody mentions is that the console can't handle 2 controllers.
The bluetooth fucks up and they both end up lagging
Also, every good game on it eventually got released on PC
>>334307734
>Daily reminder that /v/ was crazy about the Ouya prior to its release and tons of /v/ users supported the Kickstarter.
>>334310450
LMAO
what can you even play on it?
does it have any good games?
My boss bought one at the $600 price tier after i told him not to.
We never even plugged it in. It's sitting next to theOculus Rift.
>>334310741
There were some good games, Towerfall being a great example before it went PC and PS4.
But like I said >>334310450 you couldn't even play with 2 OUYA controllers because the bluetooth fucked up
>>334310789
LMAO
There's really nothing left to discuss. All that's left is laughter.
THANK U FOR BELIEVING

> That parting tweet from the CEO
> So yeah this shit bombed I'm done moving up to something else cya next time losers
Worst part is I bet she was hired somewhere
So how's the Ouya TWO coming along?
>>334311608
I remember at one point they were considering selling ram for it to make it less shit.
It was going to come with tools and a guide on how to install it too.
>>334310576
Plenty of people here were against it. Hard to say what the real split of it was due to marketers.
THE STRADIVARIUS OF VIDEO GAME CONTROLLERS
>>334308149
That video really sums it up.
>Catchfools
Indeed.
Does anybody have the video of the OUYA game with the kazoos in the background?
>>334308149
>Our controller has a touchpad. You're not gonna find that somewhere else.
>The new Playstation 4 controller has a touchpad.

I remember it being pretty cool playing current gen games on my shitbox macbook but playing anything with a 200ms delay on all your inputs is really not worth it, it's really no surprise that it died and I have no idea what the creators were thinking would happen

I'm not kidding.
>>334307734
Yeah, I'm using it to prop up my couch.
>>334311574
Why is it that CEOs and politicians always get away with that? You resign from/leave the company/position and you're magically absolved of all your fuck ups.
>>334308337
>the Stradivarius of controllers
The Amazing Frog? is the only good game on that piece of shit.
>>334312570
I bet they didn't even contract an expert in ergonomics.
>put out a "console"
>sign no exclusivity deals
>no first party development
what the fuck did they think was going to happen?
Shut the fuck up for the last fucking time. Everyone of us who preordered our ouya's have enjoyed it and just because a few youtubers you all think we regret our purchase.
Well guess what?
My ouya is fuckin rad.
I play emu's on it, I play ds emu's on it, I watch movies on it, I sometimes even use it to listen to music!
Bully something else like the Vita.
Us Ouya buyers are a proud group who were thanked for believing.
Have you ever been thanked?
>>334314459
>She's now the head of business development at one of those companies currently churning out those terrible VR shovelware games for the Oculus Rift and the Vive.
Im glad she is doing all she can to defeat the clear gender gap affecting VR
>>334308149
>you're not going to find a touch pad on the controller anywhere else
>except for the ps4
>>334313745
the controller at least looked somewhat okay
>>334312570
It's like they just said "Hmm, how can we copy the 360 controller without getting sued?"
>>334308149
>This is the very first result when you search "Ouya" on Youtube
Wow.
it's pretty funny how android tv has made it completely redundant so fast.
heck new TVs are now shipping with android tv built into the set.
>>334316314
Can you play games on those?
>>334315059
fuck off Satoshi Matrix, and stop uploading jap ads and upload gameplay videos of old games
>>334316528
yes
>>334316528
Yes.
>>334316314
why not just buy a mini PC and slap linux or even windows on it
good enough for old games and emulation, and not restricted by weird DRM
>>334316528
yes.
more importantly you can emulate on them, which is all the Ouya was being used for anyway.
The nvidia android tv can even emulate Wii
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iDOWaBlKEUE
>>334316692
because those are generally more expensive, use more power, are bigger and louder, etc.
I got my nexus player for $50, it emulates everything up to PS1/N64 and its power usage is so low that it doesn't have a way to turn it off except pulling the plug.
Also it has HEVC support, I mainly use it for Plex.
>>334314723
because you retards are too busy playing vidya to do anything about it
>>334316692
This.
For the last five years while everyone has been running out and buying all these new devices for apps on their tvs I've been using an old ass crap PC with a wireless keyboard hooked up to my tv that cost me nothing to do everything all those devices can do and more.
You can go out and buy the cheapest crappiest prebuild at Walmart and get more functionality for your money than all these other devices.
>>334316980
that's always been a good choice but I guarantee your build is larger than a hockey puck and uses a lot of power.
I have a dumb TV so I needed a box for streaming my videos to myself, emulators were just icing.
>>334317124
grabbed pic related for $100 myself a while back, pretty nice
>45W external power brick
came with windows 8 but I threw linux on it instead -- I leave it run 24/7 and also use it as a server on the sides, and it boots up the display when I hit the PS button on my DS3 via bluetooth
>>334315059
>>334308149
that woman is batshit insane
>>334308149
thanks for preordering, dipshits!
I remember I went to my friends house and he said "hey I got a new games console the OHHYUH"
>the what?
>he turns it on and opens the menus
I couldn't believe my eyes.
>literal ps1 tier graphics
>mobile games
>shit you would find in the cesspool of XBLA
I didn't know what to think.
>who would EVER use this?
>>334318082

>>334319186
people who believed and refused to let go
>>334319384
I never let go. I never will.
The ouya will take it's place.
Just you wait.
>>334308149
reminds me of linux
>>334319503

>>334308337
I bought one. The controller is awful. The buttons stick, the control pad is pointy, and the whole thing just feels weird to the touch.
>>334308252
they would have make a lot more money just selling a gamepad and HDMI cable combo for cellphones.

>>334324469
bet u bought three lol get shrekt
Anyone has one of these willing to sell it for like 30-40 bucks? I want one for the novelty of it.

>>334317549
I have pic related, spec-wise, they're pretty identical. I was thinking of throwing Ubuntu on it and using it as a diy steamlink. Have you tried anything like that
>>334329519
You mean streaming games through it?
It's do-able but with software-only encoding/decoding you're gonna have a lot of overhead resulting in massive input lag even with very basic encoding (which would be impossible over wifi too). Need hardware optimized for this for anything decent.
One time I even did very basic stuff like just transfer audio over network and the lag still annoyed me coming after button presses
>>334330316
...and it was raw unencoded audio too
>>334324469
I don't think there's enough general knowledge on how many consoles get released every generation. They sold their kickstarter as being the fourth player in a three man race, but in reality there's a constant stream of third party consoles that get released and promptly die off because they're doing something retarded like, say, targetting the 'low income market' for a luxury good without realizing that low priced luxury goods don't work since poor people would much rather save up and buy an expensive console or get it second hand or something then play a cheaper and more garbage alternative.
People wanted to give Ouya a chance because they thought, 'here's something that's finally trying to shake up the market', without realizing that people are constantly trying to shake up the market and the vast majority of those efforts fail.
>>334315059
I know you're memeing but I wonder if there are any legit OUYA fans out there?
I bet there's one die hard fan out there
Less games than a PS3.
>>334315021
I wanna give Lily my dick
>>334322428
Fuck, has it really been three years
>>334333583
Did people like this actually even exist?
>went to local game store to pick up DaS3
>browsing preowned shit in the window
>see ouya for $70
>tag says "android gaming device"
poor ouya
nobody even remembers her name
>>334334151
Yeah.
Honestly with the quality of mobile games these days, the Ouya could've been a success if it came out now
Use all that extra kickstarter money to score some exclusives, maybe the next entry in the __ Go series, could've gotten Pocket Mortys...
Oh and fix the fucking controller and don't make it feel like a hunk of plastic
This thing could've worked but really is just another example of people being good presenters and making kickstarter cash from that, just like Inafune
>>334334610
All this talk of making a game.
Was that part of Ouya's campaign? I don't remember hearing that.
>>334334787
>it would have succeeded
Just like the Mojo...and the Shield...and any shitty micro console that came out during that time. The only ones that had any support or longevity were the Amazon box and the Pstv. The latter being a cheaper alternative to the Vita. It was pretty decent too, but the list of compatible games was lack.
>>334334347
>go buy PS4
>get offered a free PSTV with it because of a promotion
>says it's a "device to stream the PS4 in another room"
>doesn't mention a single thing about vita games, not even any mention of the word "vita" at all
>>334335313
Because the Vita wasn't released yet.
>>334335538
Anon...
>>334335068
That's the whole revolution thing came from. Now anyone can make a game.(Even tho you could already do that for pc) They even had Free the Games Fund to try to get people to dev for it.
>>334311574
This
>squanders AT LEAST $25 million in venture capital on a shitty gimmick
>clearly knows nothing about the gaming industry(from that interview)
>"cya later suckers!"
>gets hired as CEO of another company
what's wrong with this country!?
>>334338270
That's pretty ordinary in business though.
You see the product as a failure but at the end of the story the fact is she raked in millions with nothing but hype and marketing, and in the end that's what matters in business.
She doesn't need to know jack shit about VR or any of the VR devices, she just needs to build hype and marketing like she did before to sell it. I mean, if you could sell the fucking Ouya you can sell anything right?
>>334339072
was the ouya a financial success?
>>334339224
considering people had already gave their money to it (and didn't expect it back), plus a handful of sales from retards for potential minor profit, I don't think it can have done all that bad
not much risks with kickstarter unless you go out of your way to do more while caring about the project
>>334340319
it had significant venture capital invested on top of the kickstarter though.
Surely those investors wouldn't have seen any returns
