It honestly feels a lot like 2 but without all the charm. It also doesn't have as many weapons as 2 and the stats kind of retarded, especially when compared to 2.
The level design is great and since it's a souls game, you generally can't go wrong, but the lore is lacking and they went overboard with the cameos. Doesn't have the same ominous feel that DS, DS1 and DS2 gave and instead feels like a party game.

You could just replace every "2" in there with "1" and you'd have a copy-paste argument detailing the negatives of Dark Souls 2 when compared to Dark Souls 1. DaS2 didn't have an ominous feel - Majula was too bright, no-one was really ever in peril. (And I say this as a big fan of DaS2)

We have differing opinions then. Really liked DS2's feel and lore. Especially the way you find the ruin and vestiges of some war between factions that are long dead and how it all plays into DS1's infinite loop. I know I'm in the minority here, but I really liked DS2.

It's pretty decent, I just don't like the "theme" of the game.
It feels like there is too much crazy-ness without any buildup.
In DS1 there was a sort of progression to how crazy the world got, with the enemies matching the environment.
DS1 started out fairly light, but got much more fantastical later on.
DS3 just seems to throw everything out randomly.

I agree with this. The premise doesn't fit the last two games and the world seems to have forgotten to explain itself. In 1 + 2, you could learn a lot about what was going on their respective worlds by talkung with NPCs. This time, NPCs don't tell you shit aside from 1 or 2 things about themselves or what they're selling.
Still not done with the game but so far it just has a kind of theme park feel.
Just like MGS, 3 is infinitely better than 2 but worse than 1.
