I've been PvPing for the last 2 hours, and haven't gotten a single 1v1, it's just 3 man gank squads every where.
LIke, I could forgive it if I invaded someone with summons already, but 90% of the people see the invader and automatically summon whoever's closest.

Here is the big thing. if you invade? You are going to have to deal with 2+ half the time. You are using an item to invade someones world by force, they have a right to defence if they wish. Now if you use the Red soap stone? It wont trigger the Blades of the Darkmoon to show up, thus you have your honorable combat.

you realise right now everyone is playing the fuck out of this game, and most people are going to be round about the same area. When i put my summon down, i'm normally summoned within the minute, even if i put it somewhere fucking stupid.
As for summoning when you invade, you're saying you want a 1v1, but in actuality unless the host has cleared the area, it's always going to be more than a 1v1, because you'll just roll away into the saftey of enemies and chug when you feel threatened. The extra summons are there to distract the mobs you'll inevitably hide behind after everyone chases you through the entire map.

Is there any other game or series that is subject to such treatment? Bowing isn't the equivalent to shaking hands, it's trying to do so already in the middle if a match.
You should expect your opponent to use every tactic available to win and act accordingly too. If you want fair fights, find beforehand someone who wants that instead of being mad when they don't follow sone set if unwritten rules, because the only rules in DaS are what the code let's you do.

When I'm invading I try to be as honorable as the host is, meaning if they're solo I'll fight them in an area without enemies and won't heal unless they do first despite their bonus health advantage
If they have summons though then I'm going to be using everything I can to my advantage, which means I'll heal when needed and try to drag them into more enemies

In DaS3 when invading priority goes to hosts with the most phantoms and hosts by themselves have the lowest priority.

It's happened more than once for me. Also pro tip: the further you start invading in winter town, the further the host will also be in winter town. So if you invade from the second bonfire this won't be an issue.

After some testing I think I've figured out how this works.
Basically, the game has an "invasion queue." How high you are in this queue is based on how many phantoms you've summoned and how many invaders there are versus how many hostiles there are. If you're playing by yourself and haven't summoned any help then the odds of being invaded are practically nonexistent. However, if you've summoned two phantoms then you're literally looking at invasions every couple of minutes until, I assume, the number of the host and phantoms versus wraiths equals out to 3 each.
I'm not 100% certain but this seems to be how the system works.

Host:
+40% health bonus
+Tons of estus. If evenly matched with invader, can simply beat them through endurance by Wearing down their estus.
+2 to 3 Human phantoms to assist and coordinate with
+Can continuously summon new phantoms if one dies
-Still have to deal with enemies.
Invaders:
-Don't get the 40% health bonus, even if they had it before they invaded
-Can't heal with humanity (embers) anymore
-Gets less estus than the host
-Now have to retrieve souls upon death
-Spawn placements are garbage
-Hosts who use ember need assistance and probably die a lot, so they never carry many souls.
+Can use npc enemies to advanatage
--Can have this ruined with giant seeds or if host refuses to leave safe area.
+Chance that another dark spirit can arive
--Can accidentally attack or be attacked by fellow invaders in close quarters.
---Other invader can be hostile as well.

Invaders can be a pretty fuckhuge annoyance now with how annoying the mobs are in 3, especially in the winter castle area. Not many hosts are even aware of the existence of giant seeds, I've had two hosts in 40+ invasions use them. And even still, the 2nd time around I just aggro'd all the enemies in the area and ran to to the host's safespace and killed him in the ensuing clusterfuck.

The system is fine. When invading my stats are usually much higher than the summons/host. All I have to do is kill the summons, heal the damage up from the free estus charge and then kill the host which is usually super easy considering the majority of people who play with summons are bad players.
Better yet, invade at the forest/london and you'll get a ton of bros coming in to help which results in awesome 2x3s.
This is the best system yet in all souls games. The only issue I'm seeing is that I haven't found a way to duel yet, red soapstone and purple-white soapstone makes you spawn randomly in the stage. Why the fuck did they have to remove Dragons?

Each level takes 7000 souls, and its getting to the point where leveling comes maybe once a zone. Ive got the same hp as i started with deprived, 25str, 20dex and 15 luck. Should i reassign? Everything slams me in farrons, and i cant seem to find ahards for upgrading at all.

Hosts+Phantoms very rarely coordinate their attacks (being that I mean they don't instantly attack together, they come in short waves of a few seconds) which lets you at the very least trade hits with one of them before rolling out to safety. Focus on the summons as they are usually weaker and can't heal as much and you'll have an easier time.
If the host uses a seed or keeps summoning more just crystal out and invade again, if you're on PC that takes literally less than a minute. But as I said before the best thing you can do is invade in hot PVP areas such as the forest, you'll most certainly get reinforcements. Again, if they all gang up on you just walk away and crystal out.
It's super doable. I've already max'd the tongue covenant, moving on to purple now.
I do this a lot in DaS2, but I managed to find a fight club and do it again in DaSIII today.

If you get into a position that you're flanked and they both attack at the same second you deserve the damage. But if you kite them properly you can force the enemy group into a single line, maybe some will get distracted by enemies, maybe one will run ahead of the others, and that will give you the window of opportunity.
You aren't fighting pros here, they think they have the advantage and just charge in thirsty for blood. It's super easy to punish.

I had an awesome 3v1 on a narrow rooftop. I bowed and they each came at me one at a time until I beat them all. Sometimes it's a gank-fest but if you use your environment sometimes you can win anyway. I just used the Red Sign Soapstone for over 20 duels and most of them bowed and didn't heal. When they heal I use Undead Hunter Charms.

invaders are usually good because they're confident enough in their skill to want to fight other players. the average scrub who plays this game probably has a summon up almost constantly anyway, its no surprise they freak the fuck out whenever an invader shows up
you still have the advantage for the most part since you don't aggro mobs. just go hide at whatever part of the level has the 2 slightly harder enemies and kick their ass then. just make sure and bring some sort of ranged attack so you can lay down some harassment

I must have invaded over 40-50 times now and groups that have stayed around the bonfire dicking around and constantly summoning have been very rare. What happens constantly is the host returning to the bonfire to summon more once I/we kill the summons but they are usually already exploring the stage by the time I get to their world.
Maybe it must be because I instantly crystal out when I see that the world is fingered. 1x3 is doable on certain maps but I'm not fighting 1x4.

There are hosts setting up duels between mad phantoms and other invaders by deliberately inviting multiple hostile or purple phantoms, it's rad as shit. Gentleman's agreement that the host stays out of it and you two duke it out. Though of course sometimes you gang up on the host, or actually co-op an area until someone gets stabbed in the back or invaded again, etc.

When you unlock the second shortcut back to the bonfire, there's an elevator that goes up to a crossbow dude. Go out onto the ledge and up a ladder. From there, you can get on the buttresses and onto the rafters inside the cathedral. You can drop down to a platform there and onto the raised area that third bridge is supposed to access. The lever to raise it is on that side. Up there is also the Rosario's Fingers covenant.
