Vesperia's system was okay. I was fine getting skills from weapons and such, but it was dumb that they made it so easy to miss skills like recover and back-step. Honestly, those should have never become learnable skills. They should have just been innate, like in Symphonia. At least in Abyss they gave you them by default even though they could be toggled off like all others in the game.
Graces was fine to me as well. The Titles were easy enough to follow. Not nearly as stupid as Zesty, and the Dualizing was just an easy way to make super strong gear and make a quick buck by making your shit super high quality. It wasn't that simple, I'll admit, but it was simple enough at a base level to be utilized by even the dullest of players.
Xillia's system was fine because the weapons didn't even affect your skills. The Lillium Orb system for developing stats, skills and artes was super simple. Just level up, and move the nodes around. It's pretty hard to fuck that up honestly, but the freedom might have held back people who didn't know how to even their progression out. I still liked it more than Xillia 2. It was simple, but it was boringly simple.
Personally, although I thought capacity cores were a bit stupid in the grand scheme of things, Abyss did it much better than most post-Symphonia games. Symphonia was alright, but only because it was stupidly simple and non-essential for beating the game on harder difficulties. It basically doesn't bog the game down by forcing you to learn something dumb for harder content, but also allows you to have some depth and develop your characters better for more challenging engagements if that's what you wanted to do.

Have you guys realized that all four shrine tracks actually have the same primary theme, just remixed in very clever ways? It's most prominent between the pairs of opposite-element temples, but all of them share it. It took me forever to realize that the similarities I was hearing were actually rearrangements of the same main melody, but now that I've figured it out, I can't unhear it. Major props to Go Shiina for using a leitmotif in such an amazing way
