As someone who's been playing the series since the original game, I think the saturation of Neptunia games is getting a bit out of hand.
That said, Hyperdevotion Noire is genuinely one of the better entries, probably the only non-main series game that's actually good and worth playing.

I just stepped into the series with VII, and having this huge backlog is nice. That being said, holy shit, they really crank out these games. I'm really looking forward to Blanc and Neptune v zombies though, hopefully they make the action elements more challenging than U. Getting max rank in every mission while still being 10 levels under recommended is getting kinda boring.

Mk2 is the first game in the 'canon' setting and the series has been following on from that.
If you care about the story Mk2 and Victory are worth playing, I feel VII has the weakest story of the three.
None of the spin-off games except Hyperdevotion Noire are really worth your time.

I've been playing the Rebirth versions of the older games, and I'm having a lot of fun with them. They make for a nice break before jumping head first into the post game grind of VII. You can really feel the lack of budget though.

I feel VII has the best gameplay, but I didn't think the story was very good compared to Mk2 or Victory and I'm personally more invested in story/characters than gameplay (which is why I was able to finish HN1, the gameplay is nothing short of dire).
The big reveal in VII was pretty much the same as Victorythe big bad is a goddess from the past and she's evil and ruled her nation like a tyrant.

Even with it being the same, I cared for Uzume personally a lot more than I did for Puru, though I do feel it's a little lazy to do the same reveal twice I think V-II was the first game for me to think was better with interactions and character fun since HDN1. Didn't care too much for mk2 or Victory in those aspects.Might be because Compa and IF were back for that short stint in Planeptune story, I just love the original trio, feels like friends being reunited
