You just need smart players. I've done it in the early days when people first got to lvl 30s and were undergeared. We did wipe a number of times but we got gud and learned how to deal with everything.
The main issue we had were the shotguners. But we eventually had 3 people all throwing flame turrets to stunlock the shotgunners in fire, then we just shoot em until they dead.
Funny enough nobody uses this tactics these days, they too busy trying to get the highest dps possible with smartcover or other shit. And I see them not being able to handle shotgunners that run up to them.
I put 50 hours into it
did the main campaign, a lot of the side missions, messed around in the dark zone for a bit.
But now I have nothing to because it got boring, i am about to uninstall.
8/10 game, was expecting it to be shit

it's super grindy but i like that kind of thing. combat is fun and a lot more strategic then i was expecting. lot of room for different kinds of builds so characters can play specific roles (a thing i didn't like about destiny is that all the classes felt pretty much the same except for their super). dark zone is fun.

your can unlock all the skills in the game with one character and then swap out what skills you want and augment them with specific gear. i like that quite a bit.

This is offset by giving you more item drops which increases the probability that you get viable upgrades to account for the scalar change. It's ultimately exactly the same game, just the numbers on both side are fluctuating slightly differently. It would be one thing if AI changed but that's not the case

In challenge mode, they do much more damage so you have to actually use cover and play smart, especially when you can't kill a shotgunner anymore with one clip before they get up to your face like back on normal mode.
Also there are more enemies in certain areas like the final boss of the Power Planet, there's 3 special Guards with the final boss while in easier difficulties, it's just the boss and no guards.
People play differently on normal than on challenge. They have to if they want to beat challenge mode.

I was surprised when i jumped into challenge mode, when I did my first challenge mission which was the consulate, we couldn't get past the first pack, I tried lexington next, managed to barely do it, and with the group dying a ton of times at various points, we actually had to move forward, retreat slowly to stop our position being overrun at the start, focus fire on the exact same target, use crowd control etc, it was pretty amazing compared to hard/normal mode

Trust me, I've seen tons of people with great builds still fuck up challenge mode like they're fucking noobs. Some people never learn to git gud despite having the best gear. Most of those people also leave once they wipe once or twice.
No amount of gear will let you cheese challenge mode. Git gud or gtfo.
The Division was an alright game, it's kind of like Diablo 3 where you play it for a bit and you're like "I've had enough", and then you see people who play it all day every day and they're like "this game isn't very good, maybe I just need to keep playing it and it'll get good" but it never does.
The main problems with it are that it just barely manages to avoid being boring to play, and there's not a lot of shit to do in it. Maybe in a year when they've released a bunch more content it'll have more to stand on, but as it is I'd say it's only for people who are really starved for an almost playable FPS-ARPG since it's been a few years since a decent Borderlands game came out.
Plus with Dark Souls 3 coming out in like two days The Division will be beyond dead.

I just want more enemies types or variety of some sort. I could handle the grind in Warframe cause you have all sorts of neat weapons with different stats and damage types. And different types of enemies in 3 different factions.

Games like Diablo and Path of Exile have way more enemies and ways to defeat them, which makes them way longer lasting.

Honestly I was surprised about how much I liked the division. I was expecting utter shit, and I got a pretty good game. There are a few negatives though like with anything.
I feel like NYC is pretty nice looking and great atmosphere, but I feel like there could be more going on. I like how factions fight each other. But I think it would be neat to have "warzone" areas which have higher numbers of enemies that are currently fighting each other and thats the whole point of the district. Clear both sides out and get rewards.
I also feel like the JTF is useless and a mechanic where you could call in JTF support during the game might be interesting. Somewhat like in Fallout NV where you could call in Ranger/Legion squads.
The main missions were great, but if you did them all in sequence with no side missions its pretty content light. That being said who the fuck would do that? The content will only expand with DLC so im ok with this.
The leaders of the factions were good, but some felt amazing to fight along with great areas to fight them in. The Rikers being the exception. The whole boss mission was pretty bad and the black bitch was boring, the fight itself was boring. My friend and me just sat at the doorway firing at her and she died.
The DZ is fantastic, especially if you have some friends to play with. The fear of being betrayed and betraying people yourself is fucking cool. The enemies are tough. But the problem is, theres nothing to do. You go into the dark zone, so you can get better equipment, so you can go deeper into the dark zone. I feel like adding DZ specific missions would be fantastic. Giving you objectives pitting you against tough as shit bosses, but you've got to watch out for other players.
Surprisingly I never felt the enemies were bullet sponges. But thats mostly because im a sniper and always go for headshots, my secondary is an LMG so it doesnt feel like it takes awhile to kill people except for bosses which im ok with.
endgame weapon hunting is grindy as fuck.
