Chess isn't perfect at all. And even if it was, it means nothing. By definition, a perfect game means any game where all players have an equal chance of winning. So anything where two people compete starting at the same time with the same equipment technically qualifies as perfect. So chugging a gallon of milk, playing towers of Hanoi, and seeing who can stab themselves in the hand the most before giving up are all technically perfect games, but they still fucking suck.

Chess is a crappy tactical turn based RPG developed by a bunch of monkeys.
Right away you'll notice Chess has no storyline. Instead, all you notice is the the White army and the Black army are fighting each other over a battlefield. Note the "a battlefield," because Chess only has one story map.
As for the actual combat, it's extremely dull. Each unit can kill another with only one hit. This means units with a real good movement ability dominate the field (more on that bellow). There aren't even any combat animations or anything that happens in combat. One unit moves on it's space and "captures" it, and the piece is removed from the game with no form of action or special effects.
Yawn.
Chess has shitty class balance. The Queen is flat out overpowered while your actual front line units, the Pawns. can't do shit. I think the developers were afraid that no one would use the female character so they buffed up her abilities really high but now theres no point in using any other unit.
The rest of the units suck. Rooks can only move in 4 directions, same with Bishops. Boring. Also, whats up with the Knight? It has the most bizzare combat abilities of all the units. They're retardly hard to use cause they jump around like retards to move and attack. The devs should have named this unit Ninja, since Knights didn't jump around like that in real life.
Worst part, is the king. You see, the devs decided that if your king gets captured, you instantly lose the game. W-T-F? This wouldn't be a problem, except that he can't move for crap. Seriously, the most important unit in the game can only move 1 space a turn? Good luck keeping him alive while every other unit in the game dances around him.
Unbalanced classes, lackluster gameplay, and not to mention repetitive 1 hour+ games. Chess is not worth the time or your money. Buy Final Fantasy Tactics or Disgaea instead.

I posted that RPS is the most perfect game, but really it seems like the most perfect game would be one that elevates skill the most. A game can only truly have an equal chance of all players winning if it's a "zero-player game" like War (the card game), or flipping coins and you win if you get heads and your opponent gets tails and you repeat if you get the same side. But then what does it mean to elevate skill? That's what chessfags are all going for, but the weakness of chess is that, since the space of possible board configurations is so high, everyone has basically collectively agreed to play the game according to patterns.
For my part, I think the "truest" challenge, the truest test of ability, is creation. Novel art, research, and performance. Situations where there is no right answer, there's only degrees of fucking up. Games are only good for whiling away time, or recovering from actual challenges. Thus there is no perfect game, or the perfect game is the one that whiles away time the best. That's probably why, in spite of it all, I still sort of like Diablo 3.

Chess is a broken game. White wins over 33% of the time, and draws are forced over 33% of the time in all professional games.
In fact, you have nearly an 80% chance for white to win or force a draw, and only a 20% chance for black to win in chess.
Go is superior in every way to chess.
I am so fucking tired of chess worship. It's not by any means a "perfect" game. It's not even a good game. It's shitty. It's boring. Playing it doesn't make you "smart". It doesn't prove what an "intellectual" you are, like some of you think it does. There have been tests done which prove that high level chess players use the memory based parts of their brain (look it up). This means they are simply going by what they've seen thousands of times before, and not actually strategizing.
Memory really isn't a skill. Simply regurgitating something that you memorized is not something I consider impressive. Something I would say requires skill, would be for example, fighting games. Footsies, trying to bait bad attacks / misses out of your opponent, using the right moves in the right situations, anticipating / predicting your opponents moves, etc. - all in live action, in a fast paced match. That's something that requires skill. Not fucking chess.
If you worship chess, you probably also think Mario 1 (or Ocarina of Time) is the greatest video game of all time, and Citizen Kane is the greatest movie ever. Develop a personality of your own and quit worshiping things just because you see others doing it.

The difference in the point is literally "black wins with a draw" vs "black loses with a draw"
In chess you have a near 40% chance to win as white, and LESS THAN A 30% chance to win as black. Meaning you are more likely to have the outcome be a draw, then you being able to win as black.

the hardest part about go is learning to pick up and place pieces. Man is it a bitch and a fucking half. I learned how to carve wood to make my own baduk board though. Really really relaxing. I'm thinking of making my own stones out of obsidian (natural out here, dirt cheap) and something else like white jade. but it probably wouldn't work.
also make sure you use flatbottom single convex stones, fancy places use double convex but it's just for showing off. they fucking wobble if you look at them and scatter all around.
